    It coulda been a contenda...

I have eaten there a few times and I must say, the food was better two weeks ago, I think they've switched to cheaper ingredients. Yesterday the bread was stale and as the joke goes, the portions were smaller. A big problem with the place, which has been a problem since they opened, is the service. They can't seem to find professional help. If there are more than two people in the place they get flustered and confused just sort of mentally shut down. I asked for a glass of water from one of the two employees and she said no problem so of course I never get my glass of water. As I'm paying she turns to me and says that she didn't forget the water but that she was waiting for a third employee to show up to serve the glass of water but since that person never showed there was not other way for me to get the water. She was quite proud of herself however when she said she could put the water in a cup and that I could have it to go. The other server was just snarly and she seemed like it was her first time ever being in a restaurant. Like I said, the food used to be better and if you like good service, this is not the place for you.

    UWS

I am so happy Chocobolo has come to the UWS. The place is beautifully designed, the staff very accommodating, the owner friendly and eager to please and the coffee - Counter Culture - the best in my book. Just we we needed. Thanks

    Wonderful place and food

I went there for lunch. The atmosphere is excellent and the place is very, very cute. I had a spinach soup, two portuguese chicken empadas with salad, and, for dessert, a slice of one of their chocolate cakes (the Chocobolo Original) and a cappuccino. All was excellent. I will return. This place Chocobolo is a great addition to the neighborhood.
