    damn spicy and awesome

we tried to go to curry in a hurry across the st (horrible, horrible service), and ended up at mirch. best decision ever. we got the crab mu shu, chili chicken and chinese greens-- totally spicy, smallish portions, not the best seating location (but the top floor is pretty cute it seems), but I cannot wait to go back to try their other foods. The only thing is that some of the stuff is killer spicy, but in a gooooooood way--american food is usually spicy at the risk of not having any flavor--the crab mu shu was so hot, but it was flavorful, balanced, had depth of flavor, and made me sad when it was gone. the other diners in the restaurant i could hear raving about their past experiences. the iced green tea was more or less fantastic also. put bluntly, i cannot wait to go back! ps--they have a nice wine menu with pretty cheap bottles, but lets be honest--only a moron would drink a red wine with a dish that has about a pound of chilis in it. seriously... why not offer the guests complimentary vinegar or tabasco to drink? stick with the iced tea bc its pretty f-in good.

    Good Food

Excellent Food and a good value...some dishes are way too spicy so please over specify. I've had 2 bad experiences.

    Just a Pretender

Probably the best part about the restaurant is its name - Chinese Mirch, but that's about it. The food is just pretence in the name of Desi Chinese. Admittedly, there are very few Desi Chinese options in the city, but this one is certainly not my preferred choice.

The best Indian-chinese rest. in NYC

Being a huge fan of sino-Indian cuisine, I think nothing in NYC can match up to the quality of Chinese Mirch. Its the closest you can get to real Indian-chinese food. With that said, please be a little bit careful with the spice, if you haven't had this type of cuisine before...

Food here is on the bland side. Service is quite poor as well. So many other better options nearby.

    what's the hype?

having lived in india and had a good deal of indian-chinese cuisine, i don't get the big deal with chinese-mirch. the environment caters to the yuppie indian crowd but food was just BLAH.
