I moved from the BX to Inwood last year, and tried another restaurant first. Huge mistake, the chicken was scary looking. This however was awesome! I ordered the Egg drop soup, very filling. You weren't kidding about the Steamed pork dumplings & the sauce, plus they give you a ton. The egg rolls were average, but hit the spot... Good timing, except they only take cash only flaw, but there's a Chase 2 blocks away, so all good. All under $10, will defiantly be ordering again. :)

So I don't like a lot of NY chinese food - this place is the best I've had in new york period. The dumplings are BEYOND amazing - if you are on the fence - get them. Make sure to have cash and the delivery comes super fast. Highly recommended!

This is the only Chinese hole-in-the-wall style restaurant in Inwood where I can actually enjoy the food. The staff is friendly, the English-speaking woman who works the counter and phones is great, and the deliveries are so fast you wonder how it's humanly possible, taking between five and ten minutes, and I don't live that close. The food is quite good for this type of place (the similar joints around Inwood are unspeakable horrors--I look forward to their posted letter grades) and despite several such places in the immediate vicinity, it's actually the only game in the neighborhood. I hate the styrofoam containers, too, but the food does definitely arrive hot in the depths of winter, for whatever that's worth. The chicken with mixed vegetables lunch special over pork fried rice, for an example, is $5.50 as I write this, and a good and presumably nutritious deal. The place itself also has a couple of tables if you stop by instead. I've eaten there both ways a number of times but mainly order from there whenever I'm sick and can't or won't cook.

The food at China Sea is by far the best in Inwood. Their Sesame Chicken is particularly good. I've never been to the establishment, only ordered by phone, but I've been pleased with the service, price, and speed. Good value and taste for cheap Chinese delivery.

The food is good but not the greatest. Always seems lacking. But I always order here b/c they are fast and everywhere else is so bad. Good prices ... ok food. Fast delivery.

I know this is rather common, but my only complaint about China Sea is that it does not accept credit/debit card orders over the phone. Otherwise they would be the perfect Chinese delivery place for me. The woman who answered the phone clearly spoke very good English, the prices are right and the food was good - just above the average for normal take-out/delivery Chinese. It's just that I had to actually LEAVE my house to go and get cash before it arrived, which was sort of a bummer. (I know I know, we lazy Americans are all going straight to hell) If you have cash then it's great, but it's not the absolute perfect manifestation of my lazy American dream of Chinese food being delivered to my door with no effort put in from me. ) PS - For some reason the styrofoam didn't bother me quite so much...I like my food hot.

Since none of the Washington Heights Chinese places will deliver to Inwood and Amy's has gone way downhill, I decided to give China Sea a try. Their steamed pork dumplings are amazing, with very delicate wrappers and flavorful filling; the dipping sauce has an unusual citrus aspect and a tiny hint of peppery spice. For $4.50, I expected six, but there were actually eight, all good-sized (not like the dinky little ones you get at Ollie's). That's a whole meal right there, and a very good one. Sadly, the wonton soup was merely run of the mill, and the silky-smooth wonton wrappers became dangerously slippery when coated with hot soup. They did really pack it with wontons, though. The mu shu was a mixed bag: not overcooked like most mu shu, so the cabbage and celery were crunchy and substantial, and the sauce was subtle and tasty, but the pork contributed to the crunch with an overabundance of gristle. I also prefer more mushrooms in my mu shu. I might try veggie next time, since the pork was the real disappointment. Six square pancakes were a nice touch and made for easy, leakproof wrapping. The mu shu also came with very sticky white rice, which I thought a bit redundant. Total for all of the above: $9.50 before tax, so they rounded it to $10 and tossed in a free can of Coke. (Wish they'd asked what I wanted; I would have preferred ginger ale, or an egg roll.) When I called to order, the phone was passed around about four times until they could find someone who spoke English well enough to understand "Park Terrace West" and write down directions; despite being just down on Dyckman, I guess they don't deliver up here much! "A block east of Seaman Ave" worked well enough (or they found a map quickly enough) that I got my order precisely on the 20-minute mark, as promised. I was dismayed to see my food delivered in Styrofoam containers--stapled shut, and thus requiring some care in opening--and that's the main reason I probably won't order from them again.
