Don't be scared to give it a try

You may be put off by the steady crowd which is always waiting but you should give it a try. China Gourmet is the better of the cheap Chinese takeouts in the neighborhood. Consistent takeout-style food and somewhat terse but acceptable service with no atmosphere. But you just can't beat their lunch special! Yes, there's no soda with the lunch special but so what.

excuse me i orderd chicken not veg. oil!

the first time i ate here was 7/23/09 and i got the lunch special and it was a fair price i got the sesame chicken and even though the lunch special doesn't come with a soda like other restaurants instead you get a soup or egg roll I asked for neither and it was still the same price as if i was to get it which kind of sucked but the food was still good, as i said i got the sesame chicken and although it was good and the gave me a very big portion of chicken it was a little to fatty and way to much oil its good but not for eating everyday would i go back... yes in a month or so just for health reason ... other than that it was great

    My fave!

China Gourmet is the BEST cheap and delicious chinese delivery in the neighborhood. They are friendly and fast. I recommend this place over the many others.

    ok, less oil please

you get a lot of food for your money, but it's hard to taste it with all of the vegetable oil that it is sitting in. i ordered chicken and broccoli and wonton soup. there is seriously about 2/3 cup of oil mixed in with the brown sauce. also a thin layer of oil on top of the soup.

Consistent Take-out at a Good Price

I order lunch from China Gourmet about once a week, and I keep going back. I have tried a fair selection of the items on the lunch menu, and my recommendation is this: do not be adventurous. Order the chicken & broccoli or the sesame chicken, otherwise you're looking for trouble. However, what they do well, they always do well. And it's a lot of food for $5.65.

To return or not to return here....

There aren't many ranges in critiquing the take-out value of chinese cuisine. It is very black and white, there is either chinese you order again after the initial visit and chinese food you don't order from again. That said: I would order here again.

good food / value for money

The food is exactly what you want even when you're not sure what you want. It seems to hit the spot. Good food with great value.
