Best pan fried noodles!
I tried the pan fried noodles at other chinese restaurants in the area, and the pan fried noodles at China Chalet are the best! I order with extra shrimp, and now I'm hooked. I tried one other dish there and its ok, but I order the pan fried noodles here at least once a week.

great spot in financial district
first off, the food is great. the dim sum section is very limited but this isnt the average take out.. so unsuspecting people beware! the food is made fresh and they use good ingredients. the food is expensive but you get what you pay for. the shrimp are large, no extra fillings. we ordered a lobster and they ran out but had one ordered fresh to come straight from their other location! the atmosphere is pretty good and probably one of the best for chinese food. very good, in fact we're going there again tonight.

Poor Service, Below Average Food
If you want good Chinese Food in the Financial District, there are better places than China Chalet. Service was not good, I never even got a refill of water. The food was decent at best, but not worth the price.

Decent Chinese for Financial District
It's not great but it's not bad. It's better than fast food Chinese but it's nowhere near as good as Chinatown and it doesn't measure up to a few of the places on the Upper West Side. It's basically a decent (but not great) local Chinese restaurant. In short, if you live in the area or you're working late, it does the trick and it's open later than almost any other place in the neighborhood.

Great Chinese
I and my friends have been going here for over twenty years and have never been disappointed. Just walk up those stairs and you're closer to heavenly Chinese cuisine.

Rating of China Chalet
I go to China Chalet mainly on special occasions. I fine the food to be pretty special. My group of guys and me, really love their pan fried noodles. Just like Chinatown. If not for the prices, I would go there more often.

I love good chinese food, and amazingly it's hard to find in nyc. I found good Chinese food at the China Chalet.
