I actually live in the hood and had never heard of the place. I came here on a first date with my boyf (Latino) because he had heard of it down the grapevine. Wow - definitely a meal to remember. It was packed inside so the manager offered to seat us out back - although it was kinda chilly and I think they forgot about us a few times, the meal itself made up for it. The crunchy little corn kernels were so snacky tasty to start, and we ordered beef hearts for an app... don't think about it too hard and you'll be way impressed. The fried seafood (forgot what it's called) entree was the best I've had in a LONG time (and I'm from Maine). I was actually sorry I ordered it because the portion was so huge and I knew fried seafood wouldn't keep, so I left it behind. We're waiting for the next special occasion to mosey on back there for another great meal.

I moved to Williamsburg 10 months ago and since then I always seem to turn left on Union and head to Dumont for dinner. Seeing as how they have been declining in performance we decided to finally check out Chimu. I have to say that this was probably the best meal I've had since I've lived here. We had the empanadas which were absolutely delicious and the garlic sauce that came with it was divine. We also did the half avocado with a seafood salad which was ok but not the tastiest thing. If you're having a bunch of spicy food and tons of flavors then the dish is nice to ease your palette a bit. The boiled potato with onions appetizer is phenomenal. They have lots of onions on top and there's beef and egg inside. The green sauce and the red sauce make it even better. We split the tacu tacu entree. The risotto was pretty tasty but I must say these guys know how to flavor and cook their meat. Meat and spice lovers must go! The best news of all our tab was like 50 bucks including a pitcher of sangria.

Great restaurant. Friendly staff. Food was delicious. Sangria was awesome. Highly recommend the empanadas and corn pie to start. Were able to accomodate table of eight. Be sure to bring cash and get a Chimu VIP card. With it, you get 20% off the entire check if you pay in cash. Enjoy.

great wait staff and bartenders. amazing food. large portions. this place rules. the mixed civiche is off the charts.

I recently ate at Chimu and found the food to be delicious. The empanadas were perfectly seasoned, and they weren't greasy at all. The sangria was sooo good. My only gripe is that our main courses weren't served as hot as they should have been. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

I've been to most of the Peruvian places in the city and this one is the best...my Peruvian girlfriend whose opinion you should trust more says so too. The ceviche de pescado is very good as is the tallerin verde, lamb seco and arroz con leche. I'm sure the other dishes are just as good, but I've only been there twice.

Not being from 'burg, went to menupages to find a different restaurant. Saw the reviews and thought it would be a nice place. We were overly pleased. I didnt see in any reviews but they have a beautiful outdoor seating area as well as a nice interior. Service was excellent for a slow sunday night even though the restaurant was fairly occupied. Authentic food, nice avacado salad and empenada. Dinner was great. As stated, try one of the pasta dishes. My wife had the steak one, it was good. I had the lamb stew with a delightful sauce. We both had a drink and our bill with tip was $65. We will absolutely dine here again!
