I'm Peruvian, and the food was unappetizing. I'm not comparing it to the food you get in Peru because it wouldn't be fair (you can't get the same food here), but to other Peruvian Restaurants in NYC. The ceviche was cold, so you can clearly taste that it was not fresh (the potato, and the corn were just out of the fridge). The best ceviche is made at the moment, and in Peru, others just let it rest for 30 minutes, and serve it at room temperature. This ceviche was probably made the day before and stored in the fridge. Same thing with Papa a la Huancaina. The lomo saltado was not good (such a simple dish). For us (Peruvians), if you mess up making Lomo Saltado, it's not worth going to that restaurant ever again. The chicken chaufa was decent. I used a Restaurant.com voucher, so i didn't have to pay full price. A good value for the food??? I don't think so, even with the voucher.. The service was poor. I still have another voucher from Restaurant.com (paid 2 bucks for a 25 bucks voucher), but i will give it away to a friend. I'm a foodie, and i've eaten at good resturants (been to two 3 stars Michelin Restaurants) all the way down to "the one dollar lo mein" at street vendors in Chinatown and Flushing, so i gave Chimu a try. And who knows...you might like it. Me...I didn't.

This place was a big disappointment. I had way better ceviche and pisco sour in some other Peruvian restaurant. The sevice was not too good either. The ceviche didn't taste fresh and when I address the situation to the waiter, he tried to avoid the topic. At the end he didn't even ask if we wanted to have dessert.

I came here for dinner one lazy sunday with a group of friends and the service was fairly decent. The sangria drinks are really delicious and I recommend the pisco sour.. It is out of this world. The food is incredible and the staff are very friendly.I will definitely come back again!

Took a friend to chimu for there birthday. Wanted to try the restaurant for a very long time. When you walk through the door the noise level vibrates right through your head. The wait for the food is endless and the my fish order was cold and overcooked to the extent of rubber. I complained and they made me another piece of salmon. This time it came over raw inside. They just don't know how to prepare fish. Our main course came over in dribs and drabs. Very unprofessional. Quality of the food is extremely forgettable. The restaurant looks very low end and makes you feel that it was put together on a 1.95 budget. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i always get the roast chicken here, usually with rice and beans. their beans are always a little different, sometimes they go a little too hard with one powerful ingredient. definitely get the tostones, the sauce they come with makes it worth it
