    This place is overrated.

This place was a big disappointment. I had way better ceviche and pisco sour in some other Peruvian restaurant. The sevice was not too good either. The ceviche didn't taste fresh and when I address the situation to the waiter, he tried to avoid the topic. At the end he didn't even ask if we wanted to have dessert.

    Yummy

I came here for dinner one lazy sunday with a group of friends and the service was fairly decent. The sangria drinks are really delicious and I recommend the pisco sour.. It is out of this world. The food is incredible and the staff are very friendly.I will definitely come back again!

poor prep and alot of noise

Took a friend to chimu for there birthday. Wanted to try the restaurant for a very long time. When you walk through the door the noise level vibrates right through your head. The wait for the food is endless and the my fish order was cold and overcooked to the extent of rubber. I complained and they made me another piece of salmon. This time it came over raw inside. They just don't know how to prepare fish. Our main course came over in dribs and drabs. Very unprofessional. Quality of the food is extremely forgettable. The restaurant looks very low end and makes you feel that it was put together on a 1.95 budget. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    always different, usually delicious

i always get the roast chicken here, usually with rice and beans. their beans are always a little different, sometimes they go a little too hard with one powerful ingredient. definitely get the tostones, the sauce they come with makes it worth it

    awesome peruvian food in NY

Fantastic food at a reasonable price! Recently returned from a trip to Peru and was craving some authentic Peruvian fare. A visit to Chimu on Sunday pretty much exceeded my expectations. Must try their stuffed avocado(palta rellena de camarones ) and potatoes with cheese sauce(papa A la huancaina) for appetizers. They serve great Peruvian drinks although not on their menu. Their Pisco Sour is as good as anything you will get in Peru. Overall good experience with soft lights and friendly service.

    very respectable peruvian in bk

I just got back from Peru a few weeks ago and I've been jonesing for some decent ceviche. The Ceviche Mixto was delicious and authentic, with fish, shrimp, squid and crab with lime and thin-sliced red onion. The Peruvian corn and potatoes that it came with were just like I'd been served in Lima and Cusco... I wish I knew how they had the Peruvian corn brought in, if you've never had it it's not at all like the sweet corn we have around here. I also ordered the Anticuchos special appetizer which was declicious as well. My friend and I split the Lobster Paella as an appetizer - not exactly authentic Peruvian but it was good. It was a big pot of rice with chicken and smoky sausage, clams, mussels and a whole small lobster. It was quite good, and at $49.95, not outrageous. Props for the Cusqueña beer as well! Its the Peruvian Miller Lite... I'll defintely be back to Chimu
