One of the Best in Hell's Kitchen

This place is no question in the top two best thai food eateries in Hell's Kitchen and trust me I have eaten at all of them including but not limited to Pam Real Thai, Yum Yum Bankgok, Tiny Thai, Q2 Thai, Tiny Thai. The other top thai restaurant is Olieng on 10th and 46th. Both of these place are are not exploding with ambience but appear clear and more than makeup in food and service (with Chili Thai have a slightly more upbeat vibe). The ingredients at Chili Thai are bursting with freshness. The portions are generous for the slightly below market pricing. Pad thai for 6.95- can't beat that. The service is attentive and as the place is not very large you do not have to worry about being forgot about. My favorite dishes are the Pad Thai, Pad Woonsen and the Cashew Nut dish with rice. I wish they would not charge the $1 extra for brown rice but that seems to be the trend in all Thai Restaurants. Beverage prices are extremely reasonable- I believe $1.50 for a soda. I am not sure if they deliver but I do takeout a lot and the staff is really nice and they offer you a seat and water while you wait. It should be noted that this thai food does not seem overly "Americanized." Another thing I like about this restaurant is that the menu sometimes has interesting, adventurous dishes that you do not see at other restaurants. I urge you to try all the restaurants in the area and see if you can find one (besides Olieng) that compares to Chili Thai.

    Thai it you'll like it!

Why this place is different from the other Thai restaurants on 9th ave. 1) Freshness - Everything is so fresh, the Yum Nuea especially! The curry puffs are actually made at the restaurant and not store bought. Oh and that coconut flan is to die for! 2) BYOB - saves a lot of money 3) Atmosphere - low key, it doesn't have a big screen TV (thank god) or flashy thai decorations. It's simple and non-intrusive. 4) Prices are wallet friendly.

    Best Thai Food in Manhattan

This place never ceases to amaze! Chili Thai offers an original menu of Thai "street food" served family style, so everybody can get a taste of all of the goodness! They have a lot of traditional Thai dishes, but really wow with original creations like duck empanadas and other Latin inspired dishes. If you are looking for something very traditional, try the lemongrass chicken, tom yum soup or crispy duck salad. Mmmmmm. The staff are very friendly and service is fast. The portions amaze me and the location is great for before or after dinner fun!
