The best Chinese experience
The evening of the NY marathon, my wife and I found this restaurant, while walking. We eat a lot of Chinese food, but this was the best of the best in all categories. When we return to NY, we will return to the friendliest, highest quality experience with pleasure. Do not miss this.

Delicious Hidden Gem
Amazing, i've lived down the block from this place for years, and never knew about it until a friend chose this place. The food he ordered was amazing. The filet mignon was so tender, it melted in our mouths. We also loved the Grand Marnier Prawns and the Peking Duck. But the best part was the Banana Flambe, flamed tableside. My wife and I will definitly return.

Terrible Service and Food
I ordered takeout and was very disappointed with their service. They messed my order up, and when I called them up they said sorry but we are not changing it. If you want the item you ordered, you will have to place a new order. On top of that the food was absolutely terrible. I think if this place isn't going out of business soon, it deserves to with the way that it treats its customers.

HUMID and HOT
I went there on Father's Day and it had been raining outside- the doors to Chiam were open- not a good sign. Once inside, I noticed how hot and humid it was and asked them to turn on the a/c BEFORE I sat down. They agreed and within a few moments the a/c was on and the place cooled down. However, by the time the drinks arrived, the a/c went off again. I asked them to turn it back on and they agreed. This went on throughout the meal-they at first explaining that the a/c was on some sort of timer and then that other patrons were cold. I think there were three other tables with people. Clearly, this place is going out of business and needs to save on its a/c bill. The food was fine but it was not at all an enjoyable experience.

So far for me ... the best in NYC
Great food. I am not chinese but do tend to live on the stuff and have eaten it all round the world. This is close to the top in my opinion. Went there for first time last night and will proabbly go back again tonight.

not good
This is the some of the worst Chinese food that I have ever eaten. We had a variety of dishes (including vegetarian) and everyone in our party agreed that the food was basically inedible. In order to satiate our appetities, we only ate the rice and didn't even touch our entrees. And when the waiter picked up our dishes he did not even question why we didn't eat anything. He knew that the food was bad. That is the true sign of a bad restaurant. Please do not eat here.

Consistent
I go to Chiam a bit and I have to it is consistent. Prices are in line with the midtown lunch scene and if you think the portions are too little.. I just walked out of there with a pretty heavy bag for 13 bucks. Good food/Decent price and consistent.
