    no wonder ...

... you kept yourself "anonymous." Somebody possibly made a mistake (although you're not exactly the epitome of articulateness). You make it seem like the invasion of Iraq. It's a neighborhood restaurant, you moron. The food is very good. The service is decent, even if it does get slow on Tuesdays (all-you-can-eat mussels night). The value is super. So the lesson is, don't order delivery -- but do go there in person. And save the rage for things that really matter.

Chez i want my money back

I have to keep this concise because I could go on and on about how stupid this experience was. I called and no one answered. I called Chez Lola instead and they were closed but told me to call Chez Oskar. I called back, waited on hold, asked the specials and then placed my order. This took about 20 minutes. When the food arrived 45 minutes later nothing was as we ordered it. We called to ask that they bring us the entree we had actually ordered in place of the foul-smelling snapper dish they sent. After another 20 minutes of explaining that this was a mistake on their part, then they informed me that none of the specials that night included the dish had ordered. I'm not sure how this could have happened because when I ordered I said the full name of the dish and they said OK. Strange that the person who told me the specials got it so very wrong. Anyhow they finally agreed to bring me a replacement entree and I got off the phone to eat the remaining dishes. My salad was not how I ordered it or how it was described on the menu. My "crab" soup had scant traces of crabmeat that more resembled weird brown mussels. To cap off the meal, no one ever brought the entree or called to apologize. And let's face it I ordered delivery because I'm lazy, but I still got up to take that disgusting snapper risotto outside to the garbage because the smell nauseated me - not to mention the fact that I even took the time to write this poor review.

    nice hang out...

...but not much more. Some people will go gah-gah over anything French. The food reminds me of the tourist traps in Paris, but if you just want to have a drink & maybe hook up, well you might get lucky here (especially if you can speak any French).

Food disappoints -- come for the scene

I live in the nabe for 6+ years and have to say that while the drinks (ie, mojitos) and staff are super friendly (albeit maniacally slow), the food here is nothing if not super inconsistent. If I want to play it safe with the food I'll order the spicy lamb burger -- have never had a bad one. The other night I had the mussels mariniere -- they were awful! Really a sin when you can't get those right -- especially if claiming to be a French restaurant. This is more of a scene-y place, and it delivers on that front.

    yum

Just got delivery and I must say, great crabcake! Not greasy or breadcrumb-y. Wonderful sauce and delicious mayo-free slaw. Very friendly girl on the phone as well as a very sweet delivery boy who apologized for being late because he got lost. I've ate in the restaurant once and will admit service is rather slow but the desserts are fabulous. Thank you for delivering to Clifton place!

    Great Mojitos and More

Drove 40 minutes the Chez Oskar and boy was it worth the trip. We started with mojitos, at the bar; the friendly bartender mulling the fresh mint leaves making the most refreshing mojitos to date. I love French cuisine and this place hit the mark. Steak tartare with quail egg done to perfection Escargots; succulent and tasty I found few restaurants that prepare rabbit well and Chez Oskar got it right. The atmosphere has a relaxed vibe, lounge music played at a level where table talk was smooth. The art is museum worth all done by the owner and the low lighting gave a comfy feel. The waitress was very attentive, filling up our water glasses after a few sips. Give Chez Oskar a 10!!
