Consistently excellent
This place is really fantastic. The food is always very creative, the presentation is great, and the prices are amazing considering the very generous portion sizes. The waiters are very patient, extremely helpful and completely unpretentious. Make sure you go on Tuesday or Wednesday night because it's crazily cheap for what you get! Any appetizer, any entree and any dessert for $25. Try the softshell crab tortillas with an amazing green sauce as your appetizer, and its hard to go wrong with any of their variations of pork on the constantly changing entree menu. If you want something light, get the ravioli. It looks like little steamed wontons. My one complaint--the tofu dish for veggies was covered in an amzing sauce, but it should have also been marinated in this sauce because the slabs were thick which resulted in a semi-flavorless middle. Aside from that this place is simply excellent, romantic and unpretentious and I could talk for hours about the hot chocolate pudding with caramel sauce and the root beer float...

Truly excellent food in a lovely setting
I just went here for the first time tonight for Dine In Brooklyn. Chestnut is superb! The food was delicious-- fresh with great combinations and seasoning. I especially recommend the ravioli entree. The servers were very attentive, but not intrusive. The setting was relaxing and unpretentious. It's an excellent spot for romantic or special occasion dining.

GREAT place!
Went here for Brooklyn Dinner Week - it was absolutely amazing! They have $25 pre-fix dinners on Mondays and Tuesdays, where you chould choose ANY appetizer, entree, and dessert from the entire menu! The food was delicious - everything from the haystack shrimp (amazing!) to the ravioli and the fish - everything was great and presentation was amazing. Service was friendly and the house bread (focaccia and raisin walnut bread) was to die for! I will definitely come back here, especially on Mondays adn Tuesdays!
