Great food, reasonable prices, neigborhood favorite
I've been going to Cheryl's since it opened and it is one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn. The owner herself is warm and easy-going, and her vibe infects her whole restaurant. Brunch is fantastic although the wait can be long for a table. For dinner, the pork chop, steak, creole shrimp and tangine dishes are delicious. For a quick breakfast, the homemade scones and muffins and full coffee bar selection hit the spot. I always have a good time and a good meal here.

Less than average
I checked out their website and it looked sort of upscale, seasonal food etc, so I went. The restaurant wasn't nearly as nice and cozy as it appeared on the webpage. Food was more expensive than what they advertised but most importantly it was BLAND. I asked if their meat was organic or at least free range, they said no. Also, prepare for a long dinner as service is very slow.

best food choice that's excellently prepared
Always a well trusted place to take out of towners. It's like bringing them to your home, i.e. delicious foods, warm atmosphere and positive energy.

The food is good, not pricey. It is a very small resturant and it gets crowded so you might wait up to 1hr to be seated

A keeper!
Had to go to Union Temple and needed to grab a bite before. I asked a woman on Eastern Pkway where a good place to go might be and said Cheryl's was good and close. Excellent salad and cappucino and if ever in the neighborhood again would go back for dinner. Great music playing and the hosts, wait and bar staff all very attentive

Gave up on making this our neighborhood spot
For a few years now my husband and I have been trying to make Cheryl's our neighborhood spot. We can swallow the price since the food is decent (although not great). But the service is painful. Whether it's just a cup of coffee as we walk by, or dinner, or brunch, the service is terrible, without fail. In the fall, when I was 8 months pregnant, during the Sat brunch rush, one of the waitresses was rough-housing 6 inches from our table. She was grabbing at another waitresses's ankles (while she was holding knives) and running back and forth from the door (not seating people, just running). On more than one occassion she started to lose her balance, and I thought she was going to come crashing into our table. We wrapped up fast and got out of there. Now that the Vanderbuilt, Teddy's and Milk Bar are open, I think we're through with Cheryl's. It managed to enjoy the lack of competition for long enough.

going downhill
I used to love Cheryl's for absolutely everything from brunch through dinner- we even would order take out from work. Then on two seperate occasions we just got really sorry excuses for food. On one occasion the unusually expensive avocado salad was simply a very small box of leafy greens ,a small chunk of avocado thrown to the side and a small chunk of red onion thrown to the other side- it wasn't even diced up properly. Then on another occasion the lentil soup was ordered and what came was barely broth. I hope they're not going down hill because I used to love them, but those meals seem to indicate they might be.
