    Overrated

Ever since I moved to Prospect Heights all my friends who live nearby have been after me to go to Cheryl's for an "amazing" brunch. Maybe my expectations were too high because I ate there this weekend and was not impressed. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette with home fries. The food didn't take too long to arrive, but it was absolutely cold when I got it. I was hungry and didn't complain or send it back. It tasted fine, but it would have been better if it was remotely warm. My brunchmate had french toast which was good, but nothing special, and also on the cold side. Also, I had heard that it was really affordable, but it's the only brunch I've ever been to where you didn't get free coffee refills. Sitting in the garden seemed like a nice idea until we realized there's a bee problem out there. Hard to have a relaxing brunch when there are bees hovering around you the entire time. Since everyone raves about it, I will probably try it again, maybe for dinner, and I'll make sure to sit inside next time.

    delightful

Love this place - food is great - sunday brunch is heavenly - took some out of town visitors there and upon their 2nd visit to NYC they specifically asked us to bring them back to Cheryl's. This is the friendliest place and while the waiters do not hover over you, (thank goodness) the few times they were a bit slow was made up for by all the other wonderful things about the restaurant. I've had the pork chop, salmon, hamburger, vegetable tagine, the soups, the beet apetizer, and more and they all get my taste buds going!

    Good Food, Poor Service

We go here when we want something convenient as we live around the block. Get there early for the meal you're looking to eat because if you have to wait, they're overwhelmed. The food is usually good and they are somewhat kid friendly.

    nice family brunch

We stopped in after church and had a lovely meal. Our 3 year old and 6 year old loved the pancakes and even my mother-in-law said she enjoyed it (a great compliment!). The French toast and sweet cream with berries was wonderful. We had to remind the server to bring the mimosas, but all in all, we had a nice meal in the back garden. Well made, fresh food. Definitely recommend this nice place.

    Amazingly Amazing!

I have been to this little Brooklyn treasure about 5 or 6 times. The food is GREAT! I am a really big foody and will eat out a minimum of 3 times a week. Yes i did wait but it's worth it. Its a really small and cozy place and there is always a wait because the food IS THAT GOOD! the waiters are friendly and really laid back artsy types. It, like most popular spots in Brooklyn cater to the most diverse crowds around. So everyone from artists to intellectuals will be comfortable there. I have stopped in for brunch on my way to the Brooklyn Museum and the food was simply delicious! Fresh squeezed orange juice. warmed soy milk and some of the best french toast I've ever had. The place seats about 30 people so yeah sometimes you will be standing outside but once your butt hits the seat at a table you will be glad you waited!

Nothing Like Canned Food and Bad Service

When our party of four was finally seated 2 hours after our expected 35 minute wait, we were crammed five to a four top. The decor was delightful however the temperature required fur lining in your shoes. The waiter took his time in approaching the table to take our drink and food orders. The drinks arrived after about a 15 minute window had passed and the server never returned until our food was ready to deliver...an hour after we had ordered. I had the Vegetable Tagine which was more like eating a can of hot garbanzo beans. The steak looked less than appetizing and the chicken, well it was just chicken. No vegetables and no garnish...just chicken. After hour four hour experience and overpriced canned garbanzo beans, we all decided to skip dessert.
