UES Nirvana
Outstanding food and it is especially thrilling that it is on the UES where no [even] good Indian food has gone before... The Kachori Chat and Vegetable Chettinad are divine. The service is less so -- you may have to work at it to get and keep the waiter's attention, and delivery is very slow.

Great food
Finally a great Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. This restaurant is a departure from the usual punjabi fare at the other Indian restaurants. They have among the best south-indian dishes I've had in the US. Delivery varies from lightning-quick to reasonable, prices couldn't be better. The last time I ordered take-out it was ready in 10 minutes!

Novel and excellent Indian food
I was curious to see if menupages.com had gotten around to reviewing this place since I ate there last night. I concur with the other reviewers. This place is really something special. As somebody who has gotten jaded with the vegetable curries, chicken tandoori, etc. on the menu of most Indian restaurants, this place really is a striking alternative. The food is exceedingly fresh and oil-free and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Super delicious, lots of options. This is the best Indian food on the UES.

Awesome UES Indian
I don't usually write restaurant reviews, but Chennai has some of the best Indian food I've had in NY. The samosas and broccoli jalfrazie were both amazing. It's been a while since I have had Indian food that was this light and not-greasy, but yet still was super flavorful and well-spiced. I highly recommend Chennai to anyone who likes Indian food. It is vegetarian, but honestly you don't even miss the meat. Good stuff!

Excellent!
I am so glad that this restaurant appeared on Menu Pages. I actually requested it to be listed since it is a new place. The restaurant that used to be there was really good too, but it closed. DON'T LET THIS PLACE CLOSE!!! The food is fantastic. If you prefer meat dishes, the fact that this is Vegetarian won't bother you. That's how good the food is. I recommend the Veg Saag Malai, and Mullagatawny soup. They are also on delivery.com so it's super easy to get take-out. GO FOR IT!
