    left overs

Great food. Very good prices. But for left overs, they mix all of the food together. So everyone's orders end up mixed in the same container. It seems very cheap. They should ask prior to doing this. I eat spinach and my husband hates spinach, and they mixed our meals. he couldn't eat his.

Best veg Indian in the city

I've only ordered take-out from here so I have no idea what the restaurant looks like. However, the food is ridiculously good. I have tried a lot of different dishes and each one is delicious; I've never disliked any. You can't go wrong here! On top of that, you won't even miss meat at all because the food has so much flavor, and there is a wide variety of flavors and spices used. My fiancee and I typically order 4 dishes - 2 apps, 2 regular size - and we always have plenty of leftovers for the next day. YUM! My favorite UES restaurant, hands down!

    Strange doggie bag

I think the food here is great. Service was also excellent. Lots of choices for vegetarians. The only complaint is the strange way of doggie bagging food. I went to dinner with 4 people, two are teenagers. Their leftovers were placed in the same container, one on top of the other - not even side to side. So there is no way to separate the two dishes. This didn't go over too well with them not wanting the other's dish, and being unable to separate them. I've never had a restaurant mix the food like that before. But otherwise, service was great.

    So good!

My partner and I recently moved a block away from this restaurant. As a vegan coming from the expensive and veg-unfriendly (exception: the new Peacefood Cafe) Upper West Side, I couldn't be happier to be living near Chennai. We had the $6.99 buffet as a late lunch. Only one of the items on the buffet had dairy, all the rest was both vegan and delicious, The staff was courteous and helpful, and I ate far too much. I suspect this will become my go-to spot for lunch in the new neighborhood.

Amazing South Indian food + its KOSHER!

I stumbled upon this place while walking my dog, a small hole in the wall with a really cheap menu. I tried the lunch buffet which was only $6.95! The food was great, then I tried take out for me and my wife. I ordered a dosa (south indian delicacy). It was amazing and I could put any stuffing I wanted! The food and price are both amazing with the harsh economic times. I don't have to think twice before ordering out to eat.

    Vegetarian Indian

I went to this restaurant for the first time with 3 of my senior citizen buddies. We had a good meal, service was adequate, price were very reasonable. We all enjoy Indian food: I spent 3 months in India back in the 60's, another fellow spend a month in India on business, and the third fellow lives in London and quite used to Indian food. This restaurant passed all of our expectations. Recommended for an informal dinner meeting.

    good for delivery

I've been here a couple of times and the ambience/atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The place is crowded and uninspiring, with tables extremely close to each other. Would recommend only using this place for delivery. Sadly, the restaurant fails at south indian food which (judging from its name) should be its core offering. The dosas are soggy and the fillings (for masala dosas) are quite bland. However, their north indian fare is quite good. The paneer khurchan is my personal favorite, along with their aloo parathas. The chana and dum aloo have its fan following as well.
