This is by far some of the best Indian food I've had in the city. So what if the atmosphere isn't fancy -- that's not why you're there!

People with easy access to this neighborhood may not understand just how the food here would seem if it were located elsewhere. It saddens me when I see what other Indian restaurants are rated similarly, If this were in the Bronx, West Side, etc. it would put others to shame. On the other hand, Chennai has a lot to learn from others to fix the poor service and atmosphere.

I've been here a few times. And each time, the food has been fantastic. If you're looking for something upscale, this is not your place. I know that I can come here to eat and relax with no one bothering me or giving me odd looks for wearing jeans. It's casual but provides the quality that you will find at upscale restaurants. Just a note about the bathroom. It's extremely small:(

This is the best restaurant I've been to in Curry Hill. I get so disappointed whenever I eat anywhere else in this neighbourhood (esp Saravannas - yeuch). The food is delicious and fresh, they really know their South Indian specialities. The owner is very hands on and friendly, the atmosphere is funky and very date-appropriate (esp if you get a window table). And the buffet is such a good deal, I'm amazed they don't lose money on it. I kept going back, long after I was full, just to keep tasting the delicious dishes, that they kept replenishing. My South Asian Mom (the patron saint of "I can make it at home"), loves this place too. If they add palak dosais to the menu, I may move in.

The place has no ambience as such. The AC wasn't working. The sambahr was cold, the rava dosa was half cooked & the waiter did not even smile & i had 4 waiters & it was a mess. Dont need to review it further.
