I finally got a chance to come here, after reading many glowing reviews in the press. I went to the lunch buffet, and while I agree with an earlier posting that it's good for $6, I don't otherwise see the big deal about this place. Granted, I only had lunch and did not try the regular menu, but the food I had was okay--not great, not terrible--and not enough to convince me to go back. I've been to India and feel the food here has definitely been spiced down for the Western palate. Closer to home, I recommend instead taking the subway to Little India in Jackson Heights, Queens, and try the many Indian restaurants there. The lunch buffet at the Jackson Diner has got this place (and many others in the city) beat!

Had dinner at Chennai last week. Really enjoyed it. The food was interesting and very good. Had a "paper dosai". It came out looking like a foot long bugle. Beautiful presentation. For value, the reaturant was excellent and the food well prepared. Portions are generous. Service was fine.

The day that I went with a friend, the restaurant was really crowded and one of the waiters got into an argument with a patron waiting on line over a free table. Needless to say, both my friend and I were put off by this. We finally got a table and sat down. I ordered a thali and thought I'd get a lot of food for the $15 that they charged at lunch time. The chutney and sambar was minimal although the dosa was okay. Also, the mango lassi glass was filled only to half full which I thought was odd as they charge $3 for it. I wasn't impressed after eating at this restaurant and definitely would not go back again.

The food here is delicious. The Kabobs are juicy and very tasty. The atmosphere is great if you want to enjoy a romantic quiete dinner with that special someone. I would defenitely recommend it!!!!

I have ate here several times. The prices are great! The food is good as well. I guess you pay for what you get. It's not the best indian food, but hey, it's 6 bucks! Try to get there early during lunch time or you'll be in line waiting for a seat. Also, since the place is so small and gets so crowded at lunch time, they tell you to leave if you you're not eating because they need your table!!! So at least pretend to be eating if you just want to hangout for a bit and relax.

I went to buffet lunch and had a fabulous time. It's really cheap and they have a huge selection of dishes to choose from. I left absolutely stuffed, as I do from all good buffets. I definitely recommend it. Go there hungry!
