Incredible Indian!
I've eaten here once before and loved it, I went for the second time last night and I was not disappointed. I had the samosas and pakora to start, the green cilantro sauce they serve with them is divine. I had the Avial as my main and it was also fantastic. Service is so/so, but the food is so incredible it doesn't matter. I couldn't stop mmmming the whole time, and now I'm eating my leftovers for lunch and they're just as good as last night if not better. Fantastic place whether you are vegetarian or not, it's just the BEST!

Lousy Service!
We were there last evening when the restaurant was relatively empty. As the crowd started to build up and we were ordering our post meal coffee - the owner had the audacity to ask if it was okay to make it "To-go"...because he promised the people waiting to have a table in 10 mins. He was brash and handed out our check even before we had finished our meal. We use to love the restaurant for its food but after last nights experience and extremely poor service, I would refrain from going there unless you want to be treated as a take-out customer

Authentic South Indian food from a true South Indian!
I've tried practically every restaurant on Lexington and happened to go to Chennai Garden today for their $6.95 lunch buffet. The food was absolutely to die for! Every dish was authentic in its preparation. You could tell that the chef didn't just use the same gravy for different dishes. I usually dislike Indian eggplant, but the curry that day was absolutely delicious! I was thoroughly impressed and hope to come back for more!

Great veg food; indifferent service
Consistently excellent vegetarian Indian fare, with some unusual menu offerings that you don't see in most NYC Indian restaurants. The service is consistently indifferent -- perfunctory to the point of being surly -- however.

My Favorite Idian place
I eat here about once a week. The food is always amazingly delicious. It tastes like real homemade Indian food. And the menu is all vegetarian with vegan options. The atmosphere is average. The service can be either great or just okay depending on the server. Go for the food! I highly recommend!

Maybe the best in the city
Food is great. Totally vegetarian, so that may explain why prices are so good. Four people eat and drink very well and the check is around $60. I know one meat-eater who says this is the one vegetarian place he never regrets going. Everyone I took there loved it. The setting is not fancy. It's generally clean and all. But it's the kind of place for people who just like really good food. The service is good. The waiters are not the kindest of all times, but they are not rude either. They do what they do, and you eat. Simple business model. If you like Indian food, you will probably love the food there.

The Best Rava Dosa in NY!!!
All good things come in small packages!!!! This statement fits best to describe the best South indian food one can get in NY in this relatively small size restaurant. Total value for the price you pay. I have been there more than 20 times!
