I don't understand...
...why anyone would rate this restaurant so well. I read the reviews and decided to go check it out because it seemed like a good meal for a good price. Quite the contrary. The food is below mediocre, very bland and minimal, although it is definitely cheap. The problem is you can tell why it's so cheap.

Won't Eat Here Again
I am from out of town and decided to try this restaurant today based on the reviews I read here. I'll just say , "I wasn't really impressed and won't be going back again". The food wasn't very good, it lacked any taste. The staff was friendly and generally attentive. The place lacked any atmosphere and there was a unusually odor inside.

BEST GREEK SALAD in NYC!!!
The Chelsea Gallery is tops! I eat here a few times a week. The quality of Feta used is better than any I've ever had - it's great quality, not too salty. And their house dressing on top is heaven. Just divine! BEST service in the diner world and a friendly staff that never ever rushes you out the door - you won't be dissapointed! Just like one of those big suburban diners!

One of the best diners in the City
I eat here at least once a week, and I'm never disappointed. Food is better than regular diner fare and the service is always efficient and friendly.

The Best of Chelsea
I have eaten at this establishment several times over several years. Never ever have been less than extremely happy that I chose to eat here!! Food is always great and the service is fast and courteous. Price wise finding a better value in Manhattan would be most difficult. I understand that within the last couple of years, it has come under the ownership of one of the partners. The change has been dramatic. Chelsea Gallery Restaurant has become like a fine wine....better with age.

Now Just Typical
Many years ago this was a wonderful restaurant now relagated to "diner" status, the food has suffered while the prices have risen. An OK place for a quick cup of coffee, a burger, or a BLT, but avoid the dinner specials. I used to eat there 2 - 3 x a week in the "old days" (circa 1985), but lately I only occasionally venture in with a friend sticking to the quick and easy.

good and efficient
The service was quite efficient and the food came quickly. The french toast, bacon, ham and eggs were fair, the sausage was thick and had a crispy skin and was really delicious. This was a good and efficient diner to go to and had nice nature paintings on the walls. The atmosphere was homey and comfortable and had many seating.
