old fashioned neighborhood joint
The food here is fresh and good. It is old style chinese food. They have very good fried tofu, I usually order the make your own dish with four items, and ask for extra ginger. The people here work really hard day after day and the food is tasty and a good value. Not trendy, just good, local food. They good improve the vegetables they put in dishes but after 20 years of coming here I guess you could say I like the food!

searching for good chinese
I woke up this a.m.hankering for Dim-Sum. I thought I would try out a rest. in my new neighb. I was born in NYC and have recently moved to Chelsea. I have always boasted about NYC food @ reasonable prices. However, I have been so dissappointed w/ the Chelsea area. It is bad food /bad prices. I work in Chinatown area so I am somewhat familiar w/ "real"/flavorful Chinese. Well unfortunately,I didn't find it at CC's. Pro: Prompt, & an added surprise was two black tea tea bags. Good size jumbo shrimp Cons: Shrimp w/ Brocolli dish had a fishy smell /too little sauce and bland flavor. Brocolli w/ shrimp sauce was...lets just say I finally decided to eat it like a soup; specifically egg drop soup w/shrimp. There was no lobster sauce and bland tast. General Tso's chicken - looked like it was made with whatever ingredients where at hand (like pieces of cabbage?green peppers?)There where no red chili peppers; none, nada, zip. This was actually my fav cause the chicke pieces where well seasoned. The wong tong soup was blah with two tiney dumpling(not won tong) The eggplant/ stuffing was not too bad but I've had much better. Lets just say I shoulda gotten my butt out the door and gone downtown ...

Worst Steamed Crystal Shrimp Dumpling Ever!
I really don't want to write about something bad, but I got very disappointed by this.... I really like dim sum, and I was very happy when I found this page. But my most favorite dim sum dish shrimp dumpling of this place was very mushy, too soft, weird flavor, and couldn't find any shrimp!! So sad....

tantalizingly tasty
I think I ordered General Tso Tofu 7 days straight one time during Christmas. Simply the best in the neighbourhood; prompt friendly service; and a great value. They're basically always open too for those late nights in the office. Super.

GOOD FOOD 4 CHEAP!
Mostly inexpensive but still tastes really good! The people are pretty nice. I would go here for a nice dinner or lunch almost anyday!

Great place, been going for years
I live in the chelsea area and this restaurant consistently delivers quick delicious chinese food. Good for both dine in and delivery. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a little quiet and rough but the food is wonderful. My favorites are chicken with hot pepper sauce, chicken with broccoli, fried pork dumplings, and scallion pancakes. I am amazed at how many people are trashing this good restaurant!

good, inexpensive take-out
I read some negative reviews of Chelsea Cottage and decided to defend the place. I've been ordering their pho soup for lunch for years now and I still think it's one of the best deals you can get. Wonderfully aromatic, good quality, plentiful. Better than anything else I've ordered in the Chelsea area.
