Poorest service ever
Although there were two empty tables when my party of two arrived, we had to wait for the host to actually walk to the front of the restaurant for several minutes. Then we were seated next to the coat rack and the waiting area for the larger parties which resulted in the waitress forgetting we were there. She finally came to take our drink order and give us menus, but did not return to take them for a good 15 minutes. Our apps took another 20 minutes to arrive, but they were good. My boyfriend's soda came after the appetizers and with no apology. Our meals came a half hour after the apps were taken away and were pretty good, but nothing special. No one asked how anything was and we felt like we were being barked at when we asked for soy sauce. For two appetizers and two meals we were there for almost two hours. I'm confused why they don't realize that people come to dinner hungry so it should not take so long. Thank god I'm not a diabetic - I would have been dead by the time we ate.

Excellent!
This place is impressive. To me, dishes more correctly spiced, with ingredients of good quality at a fair price. Wish I lived on East Side so I could get delivery.

Worth a trip
We travel from our West Side apt. to eat here, so can't comment on takeout, but we think it's the best Chinese food above Chinatown. Portions are ample, furnishings much nicer than the usual Spartan Chinese, host gracious, and drinks especially generous (I order my Scotch neat) and fairly priced. Never had a bad meal here, and the prices are astonishingly reasonable for such fine food in a pricey location.

Good Chicken Chow Mein ok fried dumplings
Saw the good reviews and tried it out for delivery. Soup was good dumplings were just ok and chicken chow mein was pretty good. Overall I suppose its a decent value, but I feel like dumplings should be easy and they were only ok a bit old tasting.

Best Chinese I have found in NY
I have been ordering from Chef Ho at least once a week for the past four years. Food is always excellent however have noticed that portions have decreased by about 25% since last year. Have eaten in too, and very nice atmosphere and good service. The peking duck is fantastic, but make sure you order the whole duck as the half seems to be quite underwhelming. Very different from typical NY chinese food - you feel subtle tastes as opposed to just sauce. Highly recommend it.
