Awesome lunch! Owner waits on customers!

I eat lunch here several times a week: sushi lunch box for $10. Salad, miso soup, then lunchbox with 4 nigiri, a california roll, three tasty little fried onion balls and some greens with sesame oil. Extremely fresh. Owner is always behind the bar and serving customers - service has always been snappy and professional for me! I love coming here, particularly because the owner works his own shop.

    A great find

I ordered takeout food from this restaurant today and was so pleased. I had the dinner special (very reasonoble), which in this case included hot & sour soup, a salad, and General Tso's chicken. The soup was very flavorful, and there was a lot of it. The salad was larger than expected. It had mixed greens, carrot strips, and a dressing that I can't identify but it was good. The entree was tasty and a lot of fresh vegetables were included. The food arrived fairly quickly and was hot. According to the menu, the restaurant does not use MSG and is healh-oriented in general. The food did seem healthy, not greasy or heavy. Highly recommended.

    Service and food is exceptional

The first time I ordered from Chef 28, I really wanted something that was not on the menu. I was new to the city and I called every chinese place looking for this particular meal, even asking if they could make it for me. Everyone else was rude and short, but when I callled Chef 28 they were MORE than willing to make it for me. I was still hesistant that because it was a special order it might not be very good, but boy was I wrong. It was exactly what I wanted. I have eaten there ever since. The food is fresh and hot. Their egg rolls are the biggest you will find and the best egg roll I've ever eaten hands down. The staff is very helpful and nice, which is quite a change from....well, everywhere. I highly suggest this place. I do not eat in, so I can't speak for that. But take out/delivery is amazing.

    Not Good

Stopped by on 6/6/09 for dinner. I asked for the dinner special that I found on the menupages menu. I was told it's only for take-out. I ordered the Hunan Chicken. Ridiculously sweet sauce. It tasted like a dessert. I really detest sweet food. I don't know how a restaurant can hire a chef that cooks this way. Any cheap Chinese place would have a better-tasting sauce--not good ingredients, but a better-tasting sauce. I know that Chinese sauces contain sugar, but usually you don't taste it in the sauce--unless you order sweet and sour dishes. The Hunan Chicken dish should not be sweet. It was not good and also cost ~$14 including tip!
