Delicious comfort food especially the fish tacos. A good place to enjoy a simple American meal. The decor is funky but that is what makes this place so unique.

This place is one of the best comfort food joints in NYC. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed with lots of eye candy and memorabilia on the walls. I have been there countless times over the past year and have never been disappointed. When the butternut squash soup is on special, you MUST have it! The pork chops are always moist and cooked just right. The sweet potato french fries are the item that brings me back again and again! The severs have always been great, but the hostess needed a serious attitude adjustment. Overall, a FANTASTIC place to relax and have good eats!

My boyfriend and I had brunch today and found the place to be cute and fun. It is essentially a glorified diner with a better atmosphere. The server, Rachel, was attentive and friendly and I enjoyed the banana and pecan pancakes that she recommended.

I had the turkey dinner and my date had the po' catfish sandwich. Overall the food was above average although I thought Mayflower's turkey was a bit better (I recommend them). Prices were as expected for a NYC restaurant. . .overpriced. Supposedly they have pretty good desserts but the portions were big so we were to full by the end of the meal. Service was excellent and the environment was fun. I recommend you try them out.

I ate there a few months ago and the food was good and the atmosphere decent. I decided to get delivery recently and it took almost two hours!

Great place to go when you are craving good old fashioned comfort food. The place is very laid back and has a fun atmosphere. The food is very reasonably priced and is always enjoyable. Try the German Chocolate cake, it's delicious!

This neighborhood place has always been dependable and cheap. My only regret is that as the area has become more popular, Chat has become more crowded and noisy: good for their business, too bad for me. The purposefully roadside-tacky-50's decor is like SO 10 years ago. But sometimes this sort of food is exactly what you want -- great steak sandwich, fried oysters, catfish po' boy, meatloaf... and they've added on fish tacos, which are really messy to eat but really really yummy yummy. The waiters can be a bit spaced, but they are generally calm and truly accomodating. My 22-year old nephew and his frat buddies loved the Tecate from a can and the huge portions, and found this place a real bargain. And they're from the wilds of the mid-west! And the wise uncle continues to be happy to live only two blocks away.
