    Mac 'n' Cheese Please!!

I love this place. The atmosphere is so fun and funky and the food is consistently good...mac 'n' cheese is famously amazing (and big). Service is always friendly. Definitely one of my favorites in the Union Square area!

    Don't get delivery from here!

We waited two hours for a BLT and a salad be delivered. (kept assuring us it was on the way!) When it arrived. the sandwich was cold and wet. Eck.

    order from anywhere else

We ordered a couple of sandwiches from this place the other night, and it took 80 minutes for them to be delivered. Note that this was for sandwiches -- an order that only needs to be assembled, not cooked. And we live less than 5 short blocks away. When I called the restaurant after the one hour mark, the people I talked to were anything but apologetic. They couldn't confirm that our order had gone out or when, just that the delivery guy was out, and hadn't returned yet, thus our order must still "be on its way." Their exasperated tone said they couldn't care less, leading me to believe this happens a lot and that they're tired of taking calls like this. The lettuce on the sandwiches was beyond wilted, it was COOKED (I guess the turkey on the sandwich goes on hot), and for the record the turkey wasn't well trimmed at all -- I got a huge piece of rubbery skin, and too much unchewable gristle. The fries were also wilted, barely warm. Note the many other reviews here that had similar (or even worse!) delivery experiences. I threw out the delivery menu, as I would never order from them again. You shouldn't either. 80 minutes for a sandwich? Fuhgettaboutit. ORDER ELSEWHERE.

    Great comfort food!

I had the Leftover Thanksgiving sandwich and it was perfect! Gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce! Delicious! Good value for that part of town too.

    Descending upon Chat N Chew

I took a group of 50 teenagers to the restaurant last Sat. and boy was I nervous, thinking they could not handle that number of people. I must say that they did a good job handling the masses and the majority of kids were happy with their food; especially the mac n cheese, milk shakes and pancakes. The backroom was very crowded and the single bathroom made for a long line but what can you expect with that large a group in a city restaurant? Over all I would like to go back and sample their drink menu, minus the masses.

The Service There was not good at all

First of all, my husband and I had to ask a waitress to come over to our table and then they were confused as to who would be waiting on us. After we ordered, the food took forever to come. Once we complained about the service (or lack of service), the waitress had a horrible attitude. We never got past our appettizer, we just decided to leave. The waitress said "it's not my fault the kitchen is slow". I have never had such a horrible dinning experience. They all behaved as though there restaurant was "too chic" to be bothered with us. I called on Monday morning to complain with the Manager and I was told that if i didn't tell him what my call was about, then I wouldn't be getting through. I am now going to send a letter to their corporate office and perhaps contact some consumer group. The whole atmosphere of Chat and Chew can be summed up in one word: Rude

will deliver in 3 hours or less!

food is ok...if you order delivery, you probably won't be able to attest to this because chances are you will get so tired of waiting for it (and calling them asking where the hell it is) that you will just go out and get something else. i'm not sure i've ever had an experience as bad as this in terms of delivering food...from the looks of some of the other postings, it seems to be rather common. I was quoted 30 minutes for 2 sandwiches and a side of fries...after an hour I called them...they said the guy was on his way...after another hour (2 total) I called again and they said he was still on his way...I told them not to bother. I asked to speak to a manager but, surprise, was told none was on duty. Customer service at it's zenith. I told the guy what he could chew on. Don't make the same mistake as I and so many others...get food from someplace else.
