The reviews below would have you think this is a great restaurant. This is a greasy spoon take out joint. The food is just barely passable--edible and that's about all you can say. This doesn't hold a candle to Lichee Nut or Andy's and mind you, I don't think Lichee Nut or Andy's is great Chinese at all, but this area of Brooklyn, doesn't have much to go by for Chinese food. I've ordered at Chan's a few times, just for convenience. Got the General Tsao's chicken the other day. Poor rice. The sauce was day-glo orange, obviously from a can or mix. It was crispy at least, but it was way too much breading and not enough chicken and I could distinctly taste shrimp, meaning they fried it in the same oil that wasn't well cleaned. Nothing wrong with this place; it is what it is; but the reviews below are deceptive having you think this is fine dining, and it is far, far from that.

i tried them all in the hood. this one wins. really nice, bright flavors, fresh veggie; meat and tofu dishes taste good, too. worth going to the atm in the rain to get cash for. decent prices to boot.

After to many inconsistant orders at other Chinese resturants....this place is always good...and hot!

Granted, this food is highly americanized Chinese Take-Out food, but it's fresh and fast. The kitchen is clean, they cook in front of you, and it is prepared at break-neck speed. To top that off, everyone is ridiculously nice...even the delivery guys! Now, if that's not enough to make this your favorite take-out chinese in the neighborhood, IT'S CHEAP! Can't beat Golden City!

Best Chinese food in South Brooklyn (including Park Slope and the Heights). The food is awesome, the service is great, and the delivery is FAST. They never get anything wrong, are pleasant people, and accommodate weird requests (i.e., no scallions in one soup, no mushrooms in the other) and always get it right! Their prices are also AMAZING--more than reasonable, VERY cheap. I feel like I get much more than expected for my money every time. I've been ordering from here for about 4 years now, and have NEVER had even the slightest complaint!

If the communist Chinese believe in heaven they would worship Chan's Golden City that would be heaven. There would be no man with white hair calling the shots. It would be General Tso calling the shots and would sit around loving the fact that the white man worshiped him. Their food is good enough to eat, digest, poop, then eat again. Super vegetarian options.

I have never sat down to eat here but the delivery is quick and the food is always great.
