    The best in town

My husband and I have been going to Chanpen for over 5 years. The food and service is bar none. No matter if we go every week or once in 6 months the food is always excellent. The staff is very friendly striving to make your eating experience as pleasant as possible. I highly recommend it.

Definitely not plain old thai food

I live in the neighborhood and have tested most of the thai restaurants around -- chanpen is definitely one of the best. Food has great, distinct flavors. Entrees are quality over quantity, but the food is great.

    Thai Food--Hidden Secret

My husband and I have visited ChanPen for several years now. We have experienced nothing but exceptional service and the pleasure of eating unbelievably delicious Thai food. The Chanpen combo platter is a nice blend of several types of fresh appetizers with exquisite sauces (my son is hooked on the curry puffs!). The Thai salad and its peanut dressing is the most delicious salad I've ever come across; even my son loves their salad, due to the sweet peanut sauce. As for entrees, the Kang Dang, Khan Khew Wan and Fried Snapper with basil sauce are our all time favorites. We've purposely tried to go somewhere else to find better and have realized that ChanPen is absolutely the best....also try their fried ice cream desert, it is unique and delicious...goes great with their ginger tea.

    Yum!

I ate here last weekend - had dumplings and chicken satay for appetizers and exotic chicken and green curry coconut dish. Everything was delicious, the atmosphere & decor is very nice, reasonable prices and good service.

    Great Thai on 9th

After passing Chanpen several times and never going in, I decided to go there one Saturday night with my girlfriend after reading some reviews on this site. I must admit, the whole experience was great. The restaurant itself is pleasant looking, and doesn?t appear as cheap as some of the other local Thai restaurants. We sat by the window, which was remarkably clean, and were quickly attended to. We first split a sate appetizer. The skewered pieces of chicken were quite large, and the sate and cucumber were fresh and tasty. I couldn?t tell you the Thai name of the dish I had for a main course, but it was BBQ steak with hot oil and a tangy complimentary sauce on the side. The steak was very tender and had just the right amount of kick; enough to notice but not too much as to take away from the steak flavor. The portion size was also very generous. My girlfriend ordered the Kang Dang with beef. Of course I tasted some, and it was very good as well, although I was glad I went with the steak. Even so, I took a decent amount of her Thai curry sauce for my rice, and there was still some left over. As some of the other reviews noted, the service at Chanpen was extremely attentive and above all the water service was amazing. I was never for want of water (and I drink a lot of water), and when the waiter did come to fill up the glass he was quick and discreet. Even though I love to try new restaurants whenever I can, I?ll be back to Chanpen sooner than later.
