Decent, but avoid the duck
This place is a good choice for pre-theater Thai. I've eaten there a couple of times and this past time got duck with red curry, which was not very good as the duck was mostly gristly and inedible. Stick with the more conventional stuff like pad thai and veg dishes and you'll be fine.

extremely small dishes! but decent food
Last time I ate here was a year ago, today I was totally surprised at the size of the dishes.. tiny tiny! Not small by american standards, but small by any standards. Dunno if they were low on food or if they are trying to save money. Food was decent though, but with the diminished size of the dishes the value is not as great

Best Thai I've had in NYC
I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants in the city, and this joint is easily the best. I've had dinner there twice, and both meals have been excellent. Can't beat the value here...

mock duck heaven
so i'm a huge fan of mock (vegetarian) duck and since living on the east coast (almost 6 years), have only found a handful of restaurants that serve it, and even fewer who do it well. my husband and i happened upon chanpen one day just by chance, and have been loyal customers ever since. the mock duck kra proaw is my favorite, ordered super spicy. the tofu dishes are great as well. the curries are a little thinner than i like, but the flavor is quite good. overall, it's probably my favoriate thai restaurant in manhattan.

Really Good!
Walked in here on Thursday night, great service, place was crowded. Shrimp dish and pad thai were great. A cute thai place in the neighborhood, not expensive. We definitely recommend!
