    Great food, terrible music

I love to order from this place. Everything from the curries to the noodles are top notch, if a bit too mild for my taste. The prices are great too. The problem with the place, though, is the damn music, the loud, horrible music. Every time I go I ask them to turn it down. Seriously, it's lounge/muzak versions of classics like, say, The Beatles, played LOUD.

Great Authentic Thai with great atmosphere and service

Probably the best Thai in Williamsburg. I live on the block and been to Chai at least 30 times in the past year. I consider it my home base. I love this place - owners and employees are very nice people. My favorite dishes are Tom Kha soup, papaya Salad (i ask for spicy), most of the starters especially the peanut dumplings, spring rolls, and for sure the Yum Pad Krob - I also ask for extra spicy which can be very spicy so get the regular dish if you are afraid. I haven't yet tried the main seafood dishes but it looks good. I love the various chicken curries and I also big fan of chiang-mai noodles - great for wintertime, generous spicy dish. for desert the molten chocolate cake takes 15-20 min but worth it! Great wines, decent cocktails, and lovely service.

Really cool atmosphere n great food

Love this place. There's ten million thai places around here but this place is awesome. Definitely a great date spot and the food is super good. It can be a bit on the spicy side though.

    Tiny Thai Gem

We went to Chai last night and loved the whole experience. It was our second time since moving to the hood, and we'll definitely be frequenting Chai more often. The cozy dining room is lit by candles floating in a reflecting pool with flowers, the servers are attentive, the music is unobtrusive and the food is excellent. To start, my husband had the Tom Kha Gai, which was light, lemongrassy and tasty. I had duck spring rolls that were amazing. We had massamum curry and green chicken curry. The green curry was spicy and flavorful without being overpowering...the coconut milk broth was so tasty I ordered an additional side of rice to soak it all up. My husband absolutely loved the massamum chicken and didn't leave a drop behind. On our first visit I had the pad thai, and I was less excited about the place. Now we'll definitely come back -- for the curries.

    Great little secret Thai

I love Chai. I have always enjoyed the food and service. I have eaten at Chai more than 30 times, almost every evening, and tried many dishes from the menu. You can't go wrong. The soups are great, dumplings and appetizers are good, main courses are good, dishes are very good value for the price, and overall you get great value. I highly recommended Chai.

    delicious, original, and friendly

i usually order delivery from here, but i do like the atmosphere. especially sitting at the bar. the food is very good. i am vegetarian, so i get the veggie duck, chu chee, and duck curry, but the other people i go with get fish and other stuff and are always happy.
