    weekend brunch is the best!

We had a very unique, fantastic brunch here. Not only enjoying tasty food, but the MAGIC!! The magician comes around and gives you little tricks! It was an amazing performance and so much fun! This made the simple weekend meal so special!

    Nice spot, bad service.

We called ahead and requested outdoor seating and were pleasantly surprised when they told they would have an outside table for us at the appointed time (since most restaurants won’t guarantee it). We got there right on time and the hostess tried to seat us inside. When we let her know that we had confirmed outdoor the hostess told us they never confirm outside seating. The hostess had a French accent and sounded very similar to the person who took our call a few hours earlier but we can’t be sure it was the same woman. There was one 4 top available outside but they wouldn't give it to the 2 of us. The hostess suggested having a drink at the bar and we'd get the first 2 top that opened up, she estimated about 20 minutes. We went in and had a round of drinks. In about 20 minutes we were told a table was ready for us and we were ready to put the seating incident behind us and enjoy dinner. Until we got outside - shockingly it was the same 4 top that was available 20 minutes earlier! On to the actual dinning experience -my hanger steak was delicious and our split salad with goat cheese very tasty. My husband did not enjoy his fish special and I agreed after tasting. It was a small portion covered in raw onion. The waiter was nice enough, service was on the slow side but we weren't in a rush. Being called liars and then tricked into spending $20 on drinks was impossible to recover from and we won’t be back.

    Really great seafood!

My friend said his sea bass was the best he'd ever had. My monkfish was also great but it was the olive gnocchi that really made the dish superb. I'd go again just for those gnocchi! And I will be going again! The place was very crowded, but we were seated right away at 8pm on a Saturday. And it was fun to spot Stockard Channing at the next table

    Warm and casual in Tribeca

Finally something real, warm and cosy. The fantastic food doesn't hurt, everything is good, sometimes incredibly good (best steak tartare in NYC - really). The friendly French staff doesn't hurt either, just nice yet casual. Not pretentious. But its the friendly crowd, the bar always filled with regulars where everyone seem at home. The perfect place to meet people from the neighbourhood (I met 2 of my neighbours at the counter, talking to them for the first time). A great place for a fantastic glass of wine.

    I feel in France

I'm from France. I love to eat. Cercle Rouge is the only place I can think of which tastes like home. The best foie gras, the best hanger steak, great specials but also veal kidneys, warm lamb tongue, "tripes a la mode de Caen".... So good that we come from Brooklyn just to eat. Friendly staff. My favorite place!
