    Not recommended

Looking forward to a nice authentic Italian meal in NYC on vacation, this restaurant really was disappointing. The food was ridiculously priced for the very small portions. We ordered the tomatoes and mozzarella appetizer for $18 which was fine but when I was looking at the menu and my husband was in the bathroom with our son the waiter took the appetizer without seeing if we were done with it. We only ate 2 bites and were not near done but they were obviously rushing us along. The food was mediocre mainly just small portions and over priced but what topped this whole experience off was my husband put cash in the bill folder and gave it to the waiter. We sat waiting for the change which was needed for the coat check and the waiter never returned with it. Meanwhile we had a $20 tip already lying on the table, but he felt change wasn’t necessary. Please, how rude. Save your time and pass this restaurant up.

    Great meal, will return

My wife and I had an early dinner on Friday, both had specials, fish, an Italian dish, and split a salad. All were excellent. Good drinks and service too.

    Great experience

Delicious pastas and one of the best caesar salads I've ever had. Also had an excellent bottle of Tuscan wine. Great neighborhood restaurant feel and we even spotted a celebrity tucked into the corner!

    Really Nice Meal

Ate there after some christmas shopping in the blizzard last night. Had soup, baked clams, 2 pasta dishes. Everything was delicious. They bring a plate of really good cheese and breads before the meal that is a delight with some nice wine. I would recommend this place. Reasonably priced as well.

    always good

i've been here a number of times with my dad, when he visits. he's a very picky italian, and loves coming here. we always start with the octopus salad, and then i usually get a soup or appetizer and he gets a fish entree. we've never been disappointed. the seating can get tight, but we've never had to wait for a table- even at christmas time.

    Home away from home

I stay at the Elysee Hotel across the street when in NYC and frequent Cellini several times during my stay. The restaurant is expertly run. The host lets nothing slip by. He is always attending to some guest or setting up a table for the next guest. This is a man that knows what good service is and that the restaurant business is not just a lot of posturing. Service is gracious and attentive. The food is wonderfully prepared and I have never been remotely disappointed in any choice. The restaurant speaks for itself, I have never gone in when it wasn't at capacity, but somehow Jose always find me a table. To me it speaks volumes when you can dine alone and are made to feel welcome and appreciated. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    Poor dining experience

Ever had a sweet risotto? I never had, and we sent it back. It was replaced with an awful tomato-basil (came right out of a can) spaghetti. The recommended wine was not good. And a glass of house chianti was just as bad.The waiter brought our bill without asking if we wanted dessert. This was one of my worst dining experiences in New York. And it wasn't cheap!
