the person who was hosting was very rude and gave my friend a look when she asked for hot sauce (she thought her pasta was a bit rich and creamy for her). i liked the egg noodles i ordered, but didnt think it was fantastic. the place appeared cozy and romantic, but it was too crowded and especially because of the poor service, we didnt have the best time.

I know Italian food.. .better yet, I know Italians - they say this is the one of the only places they know of they can get authentic, good Italian food. Food is of the high quality delivered in a country kitchen atmosphere. PLEASE! If you don't like the service, please don't go!! It'll be shorter lines for the rest of us!

I have been a CELESTE customer years. I have heard the grumblings and complaints about the rude service. I assumed the people writing the reviews were exaggerating a little. WOW was I wrong! I usually eat at this restaurant with my husband, but on this particular Friday I stopped by VERY early (5:00pm) to avoid the crowds. I was with a girlfriend of mine and we were planning to meet another friend in a few minutes. Our plan was to have a drink at the table while we waited for her. When the two of us walked into the restaurant it was COMPLETELY EMPTY, except for the host/waiter sitting at a table. I told the host/waiter we were waiting for one more person to join us. The man pointed to two chairs by their window (which they consider to be the waiting area). He said we could sit in the chairs and wait for our friend while we had a drink. I started to chuckle thinking he was joking when I saw he didn’t join me in the joke I said, You’re kidding right? there is NO ONE here! I repeated myself several times as I was in total disbelief. I have never walk out of a restaurant because I always think the good food is worth the miserable service and being totally jam packed with no room to take off your coat but the fact is, in this case it is not! My girlfriend and I walked out! We went to a restaurant down the street. I can honestly say I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN! AND YOU SHOULDN’T Either!

We absolutely love coming to the restaurant, and think the owner is actually quite nice. My husband I saw him at another restaurant once, and recognizing us as his customers, he sent over a bottle of wine to our table. The food is out of this world, and his homemade ice- cream is beyond amazing. You will have to wait for a table outside during peak hours, and you will be very close to the next table once seated, but it is well worth it!

Despite the price value of the food, what this establishment has failed to recognize is why people go out to eat. We don't just want nutrition, we want a meal; we expect courteous and prompt service, delicious food and an overall enjoyable escape from our own kitchen. The last three times I've dined here our food was not all served simultaneously. As in, one person is 15 minutes into their meal and then another person's food comes out. When the issue was adressed with the owner he looked at us with contempt, patronized us and then talked about his restaurant in Roma. Additionally, the accoustics make it incredibly loud, difficult to hear a person a foot away. While all businesses are entitled to a few bad days, I'm done with this place. My money will be better spent elsewhere. Three strikes and they're out.

You must understand this place. It's a neighborhood Italian place. The owner is amazing but seriously focused, order the cheese platter and he will entertain you for half an hour. It is always packed, and you have to be patient. It is as authentic Italian as it gets. Be prepared to talk to the table next you and banter with the waiters. The halibut and the salmon are amazing and if you the specials have the mussels, order them! This place is cash only so come prepared. Celeste is the Best!

2 of my friends and I walked into Celeste, it being the first place we stumbled upon. Did we make a mistake! The owner of the restaurant was sitting in the back corner and yelled across the restaurant asking how many will we be for dinner. After telling him there are 3 of us he pointed at a table close to him and yelled "Here!". We sat down and ordered appetizers and main courses. After the appetizers arrived one of our friends called saying she'd meet us at the restaurant since she got out of work early. She arrived right after we received our main course. She spent a couple of minutes looking over the menu and when she asked the waiter if she can order something he proceeded to tell us that according to their policy they do not let someone order if they arrived after the rest of their party has ordered. The restaurant was EMPTY! There were about 8 other people in the whole restaurant and the owner refused to cook something for our friend since she arrived late. We were shocked. We even let him know we were still planning on ordering another dish for 2 of us since the main course was a lot smaller than we expected. They did not let us order anything else except for dessert, which of course we refused. Regarding the food itself, it was extremely bland and oily. They need to learn that some salt and pepper can go a long way.
