Good, Cheap Food that Comes at a Hefty Price of Rude Waitstaff

The restauarant is busy, because the food is fairly priced and tasty; however, the waiters have some serious attitude. They're pushy, impatient and impolite. Normally, I do not nitpick over many oversights or attitudes of waitstaff, but I have never been so appalled by the blatant arrogance of Celeste's waitstaff. I would not go back even if they were cut the prices in half.

    Rude staff, so-so food

We returned here to give it a second chance after disliking it the first time. The man at the door greeted us by pointing to an empty table without even grunting a hello. We ordered salads and pasta dishes. I finished my salad and my friend was finishing hers when her pasta was brought out. Without asking, they cleared her salad and plopped her pasta down. It was five minutes and my pasts still had not come out. I requested it several times and was pretty much ignored. I caught the attention of the man at the front and he looked directly at me, shrugged, and turned his back. When my dish came out it was hastily thrown in front of me and cheese was grated onto it, without asking if I wanted any. The food was so-so. Definitely not worth the hype. We live nearby and dine out regularly but will not be returning here ever again. I pity those who bother waiting out on the sidewalk to get in.

    Not worth the insults

Rude doesn't quite describe what happened here this evening. Insulting, arrogant perhaps. We ended up walking out after we were spoken to like we were morons. I stood waiting for a chair to be brought and finally took my own. The "head" honcho came over and started an argument in a nearly empty retaurant over nothing. The food may be good - even great, but why would you pay to be spoken to like you were doing them a favor.

    go for the food

Yes, it is completely crowded. Yes, the service is brusque, almost rude. But, the reason to go---- amazing food! Real Italian dishes and great specials. Decent prices. I would return in a heartbeat.

    rude, poor service :(

the person who was hosting was very rude and gave my friend a look when she asked for hot sauce (she thought her pasta was a bit rich and creamy for her). i liked the egg noodles i ordered, but didnt think it was fantastic. the place appeared cozy and romantic, but it was too crowded and especially because of the poor service, we didnt have the best time.

    It's the Food, Stupid

I know Italian food.. .better yet, I know Italians - they say this is the one of the only places they know of they can get authentic, good Italian food. Food is of the high quality delivered in a country kitchen atmosphere. PLEASE! If you don't like the service, please don't go!! It'll be shorter lines for the rest of us!

    unbelieveable

I have been a CELESTE customer years. I have heard the grumblings and complaints about the rude service. I assumed the people writing the reviews were exaggerating a little. WOW was I wrong! I usually eat at this restaurant with my husband, but on this particular Friday I stopped by VERY early (5:00pm) to avoid the crowds. I was with a girlfriend of mine and we were planning to meet another friend in a few minutes. Our plan was to have a drink at the table while we waited for her. When the two of us walked into the restaurant it was COMPLETELY EMPTY, except for the host/waiter sitting at a table. I told the host/waiter we were waiting for one more person to join us. The man pointed to two chairs by their window (which they consider to be the waiting area). He said we could sit in the chairs and wait for our friend while we had a drink. I started to chuckle thinking he was joking when I saw he didn’t join me in the joke I said, You’re kidding right? there is NO ONE here! I repeated myself several times as I was in total disbelief. I have never walk out of a restaurant because I always think the good food is worth the miserable service and being totally jam packed with no room to take off your coat but the fact is, in this case it is not! My girlfriend and I walked out! We went to a restaurant down the street. I can honestly say I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN! AND YOU SHOULDN’T Either!
