Poor Service
The food is fine. It is the arrogance of the owner I can do without. And what's up with the "we cannot sit you until all parties have arrived"? C'mon! I walked out...my time is more valuable than just sitting around waiting for a table glued to the one next to it. Too full of themselves!

much ado about nothing
I've lived in NY my entire life and have dined at some of the city's finest restaurants and Celeste offers nothing more than a cheap imitation of authentic Italian food. The food is mediocre , the atmosphere poor and the service worse. With so many other fine restaurants in the city to choose from there's no need to bother with this one.

"Eh."
Mediocre food at okay prices with downright rude service.

Best Italian Food. . .from an Italian
Finally, a place I can get good Italian food here in New York. The pasta makes me think of Rome! Thank you so much for having such a great restaurant!

Not Bad But Overhyped
Went to Celeste last nite for the first time, I heard the pizzas and pastas were the best there... We tried 2 different types of pizza - they were OK but not anything special. Overall I was not too impressed by the food quality or by the atmosphere. It is decently priced and service was good last night. I would go back again but not for a while.. I think this restaurant is overhyped and maybe that's why it did not live up to the expectation.

Lovely neighborhood Italian
I finally got to Celeste last week (even though I have lived right around the corner from it for more than 8 months) and I am so glad I went! While the cash only policy is annoying, as is the fact that anytime after 7pm any night of the week there is a long wait for a table, the food is well-worth it. If the food had been salted just a touch more I would've given it a 5.0, but it was a touch underseasoned the night we went. With the addition of a little salt the fritto mixto and the filet mignon special over a bed of arugula went from good to amazing. The pastas were also quite good. Next time I will have to try a pizza because they also looked delicious.
