We love this place!
It's true that sometimes the service isn't great, but it's gets better & better the longer they are open. We love the food, and they make a great, fast cup of coffee (not easy to find if your picky) and are very baby & child friendly. the soups are great, the smoothies are great, the roasted chicken is wonderful and in general I find the food very good. I'm sorry that others haven't had the best experience here, but I eat here several times a week and love it.

Weird
This place is bizarre. I assumed it had just opened, judging by how poorly run it was and how poor the food was. But from the number of reviews, it looks like this place has been open for a while, which doesn't bode well for them. I had a similar experience to other reviewers: the counterperson flat out lied to me and the food I got was overpriced, bad, and actually quite weird. I had stopped in to see if they had caprese sandwiches, and was not requesting that they make one for me specially, as there are plenty of other places close by that I could have gone. But the counterperson claimed they had them, so I got one to go. I ended up with several slices of multigrain bread tossed around with a couple slices of mozzarella, slices of tomato that were nowhere near ripe, a drizzling of olive oil, and a couple pieces of parsley. None of this was even assembled into sandwich form. It was bland but not in a good way, with poor quality ingredients, and it totaled around 8 dollars.

mediocre food, poor service
I live right around the corner so I was excited to try this place out. I've been 3-4 times. The first time I think they really didn't have it together yet - the service was no good, the portion sizes were all out of wack. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they had just opened. In the few times I've been back since, the menu has gotten bigger and the portion sizes have evened out, but the service is still poor. And the food is still medicore. Last time I went I sat at a table outside. It had recently rained and there was water dripping off the bottom edge of the table and there were leaves and other plant debris on the table. They didn't bother to wipe off the table and when I did it myself, they left the dirty napkins on the table the whole time. When I ordered I asked if the turkey burger was a fresh hand formed patty and the waitress said "yes". Turned out not to be. Although the roll was good, a frozen patty tastes like a frozen patty. I've also gotten stale pastry from the front counter. They look good, but they need to throw them out sooner. I hope this place gets it together!

The best burgers in Fort Greene
Who would think that small cafe known as Catherine's Caffe can offer such a great burgers. Forget any burger place, you have to try it. I recomment the Southwestern or Texas Burger.

The best Potato Salad Ever (and more)
My partner and I used to order from this place so often they knew us when we called. Unfortunately, we moved away, but luckily, we're not too far, so we'll be back to visit this place. We were most impressed with the Chicken schnitzel, and if you've only known it from the Sound of Music song, then you'll soon discover why it should be one of your favorite things. The schnitzel here is a generous portion (read: sometimes I had a leftover lunch) fried chicken that always tastes crunchy homemade in that oh-so-perfectly browned way- served with some of the best potato salad ever--rich and creamy and flavorful and tastes like your grandma made it. Since this place is family owned I'd bet my Von Trapp family britches that there's some kind of grandma's goodness that's been passed down here at Catherine's. Don't miss it.

Burgers or Coffee
The burgers are kind of fantastic, If your looking for a real burger, and are done with 67, give this place a try, but take it to go, since for some odd reason every item on the sit down menu is like 2-3 dollars more expensive ... also, the coffee to go is amazing, they don't mess around like the other ultra-slow coffee shops near by, a cup of coffee is delivered quickly, and its reasonably priced at a buck fifty..

Not good
I recently had lunch here and it was pretty subpar. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which was incredibly bland and also just weird because it was little pieces of cut up chicken with absolutely no seasoning. There was some dijon on the bread but that was about it. My companion had the salmon burger, which she reported was incredibly salty. We won't be returning... not recommended.
