    Lovely time

In NY for a conference...taking a walk in the evening...spotted Caterina's...never pass up a Hungarian meal...wandered in, sat at bar...quiet mid-week night...at 47 I was the youngest person in the place save the bartender (Kevin -- very good)...instantly made to feel welcome by older bar "crowd" (a few people)...very relaxed, comfortable place...adept piano player and singer doing movie soundtrack standards...loved it...Chicken Paprikas very good, although no it is not exactly like my own or my grandmother's, but I've never had one that is, including (particularly) in Hungary...entree under 20 bucks (do these other reviewers who think this is pricey ever eat out?) although being charged $6 for a diet Coke was a shock...should have just had a Bulls Blood but the chicken was already blowing my diet...all in all a great night for a gal on her own...thanks all, will come back next time.

Great music, great food, sexy bartender!

I come here quite often. I'm a gay man and the atmosphere is very gay friendly. Quite a mixed crowd, too. The place gets packed Friday and Saturday night with Jerry Scott behind the piano and one sexy bartender behind the bar! The chicken parm is to die for. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends!

No food no fun no service

No kidding. spent one hour waiting and waiting and waiting... When we asked for menus we were told they didn't have any available at the moment. Eventually, we got a couple to share. But still no food. We finally left this bizarre restaurant, with only our appetites left intact, wondering how New Yorkers put up with this.

    Great neighborhood restaurant

This restaurant is a neighborhood GEM! The menu is varied with good quality and reasonably priced hungarian and italian selections. There is always a friendly bartender at the bar as well as live piano music nightly. The regular crowd of locals will make you feel welcome.

    Hungarian much better

The music is why we gives this the low rating. You can't hear yourself think with such loud playing and when we asked to lower the volume they said this is the way they always play. And then they walk from able to table expecting to be tipped. For that reason alone we will never go back.

    unreal

Caterina is a wonderful person, but her staff is far from professional. The restaurant is full of an odd, senior crowd and the food left a lot to be desired. Our waiter was so rough he would have turned off a biker crowd. Our appetizers were great, but one of our entrees was served very undercooked. When we told the waiter he actually took another table’s order before bringing our entrée back to the kitchen to be corrected. Caterina apologized and took over for our waiter, but then left us sitting waiting for dessert menus, waiting for a check. Consider for takeout, if at all.
