At Catch Restaurant, older people don't seem to deserve the same attention as the younger crowd. At the 5:30 opening, I watched several young men ushered into the dining room while I waited on the side. When a female desk clerk finally came to me, she escorted me to an elevator, carrying my prosecco. At the second floor, bright and shiny, she ushered me to a dark corner. At my request I was moved but to another second class table. I questioned the reason. I asked to speak to the manager, none came. I was presented with the check for my proseco, $13.07, and wondered, Are some people just too old for Catch? I decided Catch was, for me, just no catch.

Great seafood. The best way to enjoy it is by making your own multiple course meal starting with the sushi, then some appetizers, and finally share an entree between a few people. The servers really love the food there and know what they are talking about so ask their advice and you won't be disappointed. You need a reservation for a normal table, but they have high tables for people who just wander in. You may have a couple groups at these tables but it's a more interactive experience than a normal 4 person table. Only negative is we eat too much so we didn't have room for desserts.

Our host was friendly and accommodating. I found the atmosphere to be lively and loud. This made the music playing almost inaudible and trivial. Food is good but overpriced. Don't order wine here, they only pour a third up into the small wine glass. Also when they "refill" it, it will only be a quarter full but they will charge full price.

Can someone explain to me what all the hype is about? Went for dinner one saturday night. The rather disinterested hostess (more interested in her text exchange than patrons) asked us to wait at the bar until our table was ready. The restaurant was half empty! They obviously wanted us to buy an (overpriced) drink at the bar before sitting down. The service was fine - nothing really horrible and nothing really special. The waiter did try and push the rather expensive dishes ('you need two crispy fishes'). The food you ask? Fine and expensive. No need to order anything on the far right side of the menu - it's over priced and not that good. Order only sushi and apps. Desserts are described better than they taste. Bottom Line: There are TONS better places to eat for the same (if not less) money in NYC. Next time I will have a drink at the bar and leave with enough time to make my reservation at Pastis (did i mention the only way to get in and out is via elevator?)

i went to catch this past saturday night and i was so impressed i had to write my first review on menu pages. first off the vibe was amazing it was 1130 and the place was still packed but not long to sit just enough to enjoy a glass of rose at the good looking crowd filled bar. we sat and started with oysters which were very fresh. we had two rolls the mrg roll and the hellfire roll which were flavorable and again fresh. we ordered the tuna on crispy rice which was amazing such great flavors, the crispy shrimp which was a nice take on rock shrimp tempura with bigger shrimp and just the right amount of heat. my favorite thi g we had was the lobster and marscapone macaroni which was unbelievable. if you go to catch and do not try this you are missing out. it was a great restaurant with a great crowd and great food. A+++

I went to Catch tonight and had to write a review. I went with my best friend and her husband and we had a great night. The restaurant has a great vibe and the food was terrific. Unlike some other reviews we had great service. We ordered so many dishes and everything was delicious. The tuna on crispy rice cakes were amazing! We ordered 4 of the special rolls and all were great. (MRC roll,Hellfire,Catch and Vegetable). Get the Cantonese Lobster. I am a top chef fan when I saw Hung Huynh I walked right up to him. He was so nice and I told him how fantastic everything was. He was so nice and appreciative. We sat upstairs where there is a huge open kitchen and after dinner we just hung out for a few minutes and watched all the chefs cook- very cool. I would definitely recommend this place and the space is huge so it is good for big groups. Make your reservation now.
