Cascata Cafe Italiano

My wife and I took in a Broadway matinee on a Spring Saturday, and then headed to the Village in search of a sushi joint we had eaten in previously. We couldn't find that restaurant, but we DID stumble upon Cascata, and we're glad we did. We were seated in the back patio area immediately (it was early in Greenwich Village time), and we opted for the Prix fix menus. For $24.00, we couldn't have had a better meal. Mine was the pork medallions with an apple compote, and her's was the swordfish kebobs with some sort of a citrus-y glaze. She started with bruscetta, I with a salad of greens, goat cheese and sliced apple. We finished with tiramisu and coffe (OK, espresso for me). Fabulous! Service was fast (but not rushed) and attentive. We each had a drink, and we walked out for $85.00, tax, tip and drinks included. Awesome place.... Check it out!!

My husband and I eat out often. We love all kinds of food but this restaurant is in a class of its own. We started coming here since our 1st anniversary in 2004 and we come back every year. I love this place the food is delicious. The stuffed ravioli with mushroom is to die for. I love the prix fix menu options and the specials of the day. The staff is very nice and always helpful and cocktails are always satisfying. The atmosphere always seems to make our anniversary something special. I love it.

Service was okay but food was bland, unoriginal and overpriced. Not to mention it was almost empty on a Saturday night...never a good sign.

Place wasnt bad. Wine selection was small but our choice was excellent. Food was very good with speedy and excellent service. Def recommend for a nice, casual dinner. Not for a first though. They need cloth napkins and the seating could have been more spacious.

Cascata is absolutely my favorite restaurant in the city! The food is quite good, especially for the price, and the atmosphere - particularly if you sit out on the terrace, where there's a lovely fountain - is superb. The staff is always friendly and expedient. I really don't understand how it's always so quiet there when this restaurant is just so amazing. But the quietness just makes it even better. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We just randomly wandered in to this place. It was pretty crowded, always a good sign. Went with the price fixed menu. Started with the salad of goat cheese, walnuts and apples and really enjoyed it. Dressing was light, not drowning the field greens. Good flavor. Second was the almond encrusted salmon. Lots of asparugus and brocolli in the rice and a huge piece of fish. Tons of almonds. Good flavor. Might have had a slight bit of unwanted salt on the fish, but when I mixed it up with the rice and veggies it was diluted. So much food that I couldn't finish it. Very impressed with the portion size as I am a big eater and was rather hungry! The dessert was a piece of tiramisu which was small and not so great in comparison to other tiramus I have had, but overall I was very satisfied with the meal. My date had the same first 2 courses and for dessert he had a piece of choc mousse cake which he said was heavenly. The cozy atmosphere also made a nice environment. Only downer was that the bathroom was broken and you had to go down the block to use a sister restaurant's bathroom. I would definitely return to try a different dish!

Cascata is a great place to go if you want to eat delicious food with cute, friendly waitresses serving you, and you don't have to empty out your wallet, which is rare in NYC :)
