    so so-so

We were disappointed with what we had for early dinner. Beef and chicken empanadas were reheated, not fried fresh. Too much crust although sufficient meat. Meat (both) was kind of tasteless. Reasonably priced ($2) and large enough. Sangria (cup $5) and soda ($1.75) fairly priced. Ropa Viejo not very tasty; no tomatoes! Good-sized portion ($12.95) with tons of rice (white or yellow) and beans (red or black). Their version of chicharron is made with chicken! Again, fair portion ($11.95) with way too much rice and beans. Chicharron was reheated and tasteless, although meat was tender and fresh. Tres leches ($4) was a nice sweet treat after dinner. Service was good. Bathroom was clean. Kitschy loud décor with music blaring. From their website, we had expected a lot more in terms of food and flamboyance

    Great economical find!

I like Cuban Food and have had it often. I visit NYC once a year and always look forward to at least one meal from Casa Havana. Good food, great value, pleasant atmosphere. Why other people choose to "whine" is beyond my comprehension. This little place is a gem and I always come back; also those incredible Mango drinks made with ice & milk (can't remember name) are incredible!

    Dissapointed

I've been there previous times and enjoyed the food. Went there yesterday and was highy dissapointed. I had pernil roast pork and it was tasteless, taste like it came out of a pot of water, also a very small amount. My friend had fried pork chops. Definetely leftovers from the night before refried n greasy oil and very tiny. Do not recommend this place at all. Rated minus zero for the food. Place looked pretty dirty also. Never will visit again. Will look for similar restaurant.

Great food at a great price!

My wife and I were visiting New York for only 11 days and, given all the possible places to eat, we actually ate here twice! It's that good! A monstrous portion of pollo al horno (baked chicken) with black beans and rice was delicious and inexpensive (best beans and rice I've ever tasted). Garlic shrimp was also terrific. Tequila shots at $2.00 were the perfect accompaniment. Milky coffee was strong and very tasty. Our son, working for a year in NY, also loved the place and will be back regularly. I really do recommend this place if you like simple, tasty, authentic Cuban/Spanish food.

    Cheap and amazing

I think everyone agrees, Casa Havana is awesome! You get a huge portion for a cheap price, unlike most of the other neighboring spots. The interior is set up like a diner, a fun spot to head before or after drinks at all of the local bars. Staff is friendly and very knowledgable. I recommend the skirt steak in chimichurro sauce, loads of garlic and full of flavor. Alos, treat yourself to a passion fruit shake! So good!

    Awesome!

This place is awesome! $12 pitchers of delicious sangria, hearty Cuban food...its an amazing value. Restaurant.com has certificates for them- last 2 times I went I paid $20 for 2 entrees, side, soup and a pitcher of sangria...thats nutty...Ropa Veija was good, nothing special with spices and flavors but definitely enjoyable. Fried sweet plantains were mind blowing- simple but perfect!

I lost my job about 5 weeks ago, sorry to say. I have been trying hard everyday looking. I lost at least 7 pounds.Feeling hungry with little money in my pocket I stepped into Casa Havana. The food was very good, the portions very large and the prices very low. I feel a lot better now.Thank you Casa Havana.
