Carroll Gardens Classic Diner

Dude, the burgers are not the best. But you combine the so-so burger w/ some extra crispy fries and you have yourself a hangover not waiting to happen. As Rachel Ray would say "Deee-lish". Oh yeah, only 24 delivery place in this hood.

Growing up in the suburbs, I had a lot of meals at large chain-diners, and I still get the craving every now and then. This diner filled in nicely the other night. We ordered the Monte Cristo, and Tutti Frutti Waffle, and both were delicious (and huge!). Our waiter was very nice, and refilled my coffee 3 times, the atmosphere was decidely diner-like (booths and bright lighting), the problem was the price - not the typical diner prices I grew up with. Obviously the cost of running a diner in restaurant row, Brooklyn is a bit higher than nowhereville, USA - so I forgive them. But while the qualtiy and selection say I could eat here every night, the prices say I won't. When you are craving waffles at 8 PM though, its worth it!

I've been going here for a couple of years usually for breakfast. The zorba, low cholesterol omlette & greek frittata are great. the guy on the grill in the early mornings almost always makes the perfect omlette...no scortching, not over cooked. the gyro platter is also awesome.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I am very big on how the workers treat their customers. Some days it is great, and then some days the service is a bit moody. Personally, I like to feel welcomed enough to want to spend my money. Food is good. Prices are a bit over-priced. I have never paid more than eight dollars for a bagel. For that, buy the lox spread yourself. It's a bit of an indulgence going to this diner.

This diner is a late-night staple for me and my friends. I recommend ordering their bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. Great 24 hour delivery!
