    Just Ok

Honestly I wasn't that impressed; to me it was just ok. I wasn't drooling over the food. Great for large groups though. You can have like three people eat off the same plate! Find another italian restaurant if you want to be wowed

    Loud and fun family dining

Our family of eight eats at Carmine's every year during the holidays. We have been going for four years and it is always good. It is like being part of a loud italian family, and we aren't even Italian! If you are going to NY, Carmines is a must.

    For large parties

Family style dinning requires at least 6 people so you can order more than 2 entrees. The portions are huge. Ceasar salad serves 8. Too bad it is not the real thing. The veal was great. The bread pudding has so much chocolate in it they should rename it, chocolate pudding. Our server was great. The room was alive and beautifully decorated. If you go with enough people, it can be one of the best values in NYC

    Highly Recommend

Only went there once and was impressed. Food, Value and Atmosphere great. Large platters feed a few people. Reservations hard to get at specific times; call before you leave, so table is ready when you arrive.

    Not to be missed

My daughters were told about Carmine's in 1997 and after they ate there, they raved about it, so in 2005, while in NY for a conference, I organized a party of six and we went (we made a reservation, it was a Saturday night). It was wonderful. The food was terrific. I'm Italian. I know good Italian food. The service was equally great and we had such a nice time. I highly recommend Carmine's. In fact, I'm going to NY next March and I'm already calling Carmine's to make a reservation!

The absolutely BEST ever Italian Rest!!!

Carmine's by far well exceeded our expectations!! What a wonderful and positively GREAT experiance we had!! Not only did we really not know where to go as it was out 1st visit to NY but to eat there every night and get the exact same value/service/food 3 nights in a row was a nice thing to find. We befriended an officer and simply asked him where the BEST Ital Rest was and that is how we found Carmine's which just happened to be within friendly walking distance (but would stay farther now and STILL go there now that we have found the BEST!) And we ran into the same officer that gave the recomendation the following night and he asked if we found the restraunt and was pleasantly awwed with our thanks. Not only did we not know where to go but we had to accomindate our 2 1/2 yr old girls, who in themselves are a handful but at a restraunt? They ushered us in with open arms and accomintaded very well with kind and generous service and aclaim for the girls. In turn the girls had a wonderful dining experience also! Magnificient is the word we would describe Carmine's ... We truely will be back for more and more and more!!!!

    Fabulous Lunch!

I suggested to several friends a visit to Carmines for a lunch before a theatre matinee. Having been there several times before and loved it, I certainly hoped they would also. And... It was absolutely perfect. Everyone raved about the fried zuchinni appetizer which we ordered with marinara sauce - (Chef please consider this as an accompaniment with this dish, it complimented it so well). The zuchinni was delicious and the portion enormous. The Carmine salad was great! The dressing delicate and tasty and for once, a restaurant that doesn't "drown" the salad. But rather tossed the dressing with a bountiful blend of fresh greens, Italian meats, cheese, olives and roasted red pepper. Our entree was the "special" - Perfectly cooked bowtie pasta with chicken, asparagas, shitakki mushrooms, in a garlic sauce. Excellent and again a generous portion. Service was, as always, A+ Joe, our waiter, was professional and courteous yet made us feel right at home! Our entire dining experience was great! Thanks to the superior service staff and talented kitchen crew!
