    Best Italian on the UES!

I went to Carino last night after a long hiatus. The food there is just out of this world - the same taste I remember from over a year ago. The prices are fair. The portions are plentiful. The staff is friendly. This is probably the most inviting Italian restaurant in the neighborhood.

    poor italian on UES

Not sure if we caught this place on a bad night: I have not written a review on menupages before but use the site consistently and feel compelled to warn others about this place. We dined early on a Saturday evening and found the bread was stale to the point of being inedible, the baked clams were doused in oil and thoroughly unpleasant. The cream sauce for the fettucini was primarily made from butter and barely tasted of anything at all and the "special" shrimp and pesto linguini was also swimming in oil and tasted as if they used frozen shrimp and pesto from a jar. On top of that it was extremely expensive compared to other italians in the area, and they overcharged us. All in all a very unpleasant dining experience.

    Greal neighborhood place!

The food and service were much better than you would expect to find in a small neighborhood restaurant. If you want Italian and you in the UES, this is the place to go!

    Quality Italian!

My husband and I have been going to Carino's for years and we absolutely love it. It just underwent a minor renovation to make the atmosphere more pleasant but just keep in mind you are going for the food not the ambiance. The food is rich and delicious and the service excellent. A neighborhood staple that I hope will be around for many more years. Try the hot antipasto appetizer and then the chicken valdostana for your main course. You can't go wrong with this deliciously filling meal.

    Nice place

Been to Carino twice recently: right before and right after their renovation. Food is excellent and the service tremendous - my water glass was never empty and the waiter checked frequently to ensure everything was OK. Will definitely go back

    Willing to go again

I tried the Chicken Marsala. It was pretty good and I'd be willing to try another dish.

    great food

went to try out this spot when a friend recommended it to me, when I went there were no tables but I was pleasantly surprised that they have a lounge bar area next door that also serves the full service menu from the restaurant, I sat at one of the tables at the lounge and was well taken care of by the staff at the lounge, we received fast and prompt service and we had a great time, the music they played was nice and not overbearingly loud. we actually had a couple of drinks as well at the lounge and we even got to see some tv, so not getting a table at the restaurant actually turned out to be a good thing because we had such a good time at the lounge bar side of the restaurant, if you are in the neighborhood you definitely stop by and try this place.
