    Don't Go Here

I had 2 beef empanadas at this place. There was next to zero meat in either of them. Also, the atmosphere was hardly enticing. The take-out looked much better.

    Pick up - don't deliver

Their roasted chicken is the best on the UWS but if you want to eat the same day as your order delivery, go pick it up. Both times I waited over 1.5 hours.

    great litte find!

My friends all told me Dominican food is amazing and I must say, it really is. I was walking back from a friend's house and stumbled upon this small restaurant. I thought I might as well try the famous Dominican cuisine and was pleased with everything I tried (which was a lot). The owner Tony was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean and the decor could have been better but it did have an authentic feel. The waitresses weren't too great and I hear delivery is slow, but the food was completely worth it. The servings were extremely generous and the pricing was more than fair. Best food I've had in a long time!

They Just Can't Seem To Get This Right

We had a problem with a previous order, over 1 year ago. We gave them time to get their act together and still have the same problems. We ordered lunch at 12:15pm, to be delivered to our offices in time for a 1:00pm lunch "half hour". By 1:40pm, we were still waiting for someone to correct the order. We ordered maduros- the first time, they were missing from our delivered order. We order and pay for L:ARGE beans - we should've specified color- they shouldv'e asked- we got black instead of red. We called to ask them to correct it - 20 minutes later, we get as a replacement- a small cup of red beans. We call again. One of the 2 ladies taking orders, tells us she sent the replacement without looking at the orginal order! 20 minutes later the correct size beans arrive. Of course, its now too late to eat our rice and beans and we had to make due with a bowl of rice for lunch for the day, which we had eaten as we waited...

    Mofongo!!

Take the advice from this here gringa...the mofongo is so delish and filling and reasonably priced. The rotisserie chicken special is always good, yummy skin although sometimes dry meat. The delivery sometimes takes too long and sometimes the person taking orders doesn't speak English, so the orders are sometimes not accurate.

    Nice UWS surprise

Upon arrival, the first thing one notices is the blaring Latin music emanating from the big amplifiers. The decor is by no means ritzy, but the place is fairly clean and sufficiently comfortable. (Next time I want to sit on a stool at the counter.) Service could use a bit of a jolt because it is a tad slow, but not quite glacial. The food was surprisingly good. The mixed salad was a basic green salad made from fresh veggies. The beet salad was just beets, but, if for beet fans, it was fine. The beans (red and black) both were excellent. My chicken milanesa (admittedly, an odd choice at a Dominican restaurant) was enormous and very satisfying -- not too much breading, a good tangy sauce (composed primarily of ketchup, believe it or not) and enough cheese to make the dish decadent without being outright heart-stopping. Caridad also offers a decent beer selection for those who like Latin American beers. When I return to Caridad, I will try the batidas. Give it a whirl: you may be pleasantly surprised, too.

    Good spanish (Dominican) dishes

I had to take the time to write this since the food is outstanding but the joint itself is not so nice. If you want go Dominican style Spanish cooking this is the place best on the west side. Take it to go or have it delivered cause it lacks everything else a restaurant strives to have.
