Caribbean Soul

Long story short. 45 minutes to go 8 blocks. When they finally came, they delivered the completely wrong order. One hour later after two calls about status of updated food delivery, we find out the kitchen was closed and we were not getting any food. And that we would have to eat what they mistakenly delivered. In truth, they did credit but what they did deliver was just unaappealing looking. never again.

Wanted to "dine in brooklyn" for the annual restaurant hype. The menu looked good so we (my husband and I) decided to try it out... but was shocked and disappointed. First of all the service was poor, they don't even greet you when you walk in and don't wait to find out if you have any questions. Then we went to order the waitress had to run to the kitchen every time we asked a questions she didn't know how to answer, then she forgot our drinks twice and had the nerve to charge us for drinks we never got, on top of that she never came back after serving us our dishes to ask how we enjoyed our meal or if we needed anything. Additionally, the food was dissapointing. I've been to many soul/caribbean restaurants and would be more satisfied with a beef patty and coco bread from golden crust next door. The coconut shrimp was unappetizing, and the jerk chicken wasn't well seasoned just a sauce on top that could've been purchased from any west indian grocery store. I am sad I wasted my time and money. I would recommend you stay away. I wish the reviews I read, warned me. Would never go back.... ever!

Ordered take-out and was pleased. The jerk shrimp was fresh but very spicy. The collard greens and candied yams were great. Didn't care too much for the Rasta Pasta, but everything else was great. Would definitely go back again.

EVerything I have tried there has been delicious. The take out arrives hot and fresh and the delivery people take care not to destroy the dish on the way. I have trouble ordering anything but the blackened catfish, but the oxtails are also great. Try it for sure. I sure do miss their website though.

The food was really good - the oxtail stew and jerk chicken were good. The collard greens and candy yams were excellent and I would recommend the mac and cheese and broccoli as well. The best part of the visit was the service. The waitress was very attentive and answered all of our questions. She was great. I highly recommend this place - it's right off of the C train stop so super convenient too.

We order takeout all the time from this place and love it! The blackened salmon is wonderful - and I totally disagree with the people that don't like the mac and cheese... it tastes homemade to me and yummy. The delivery is always on time and very pleasant staff on the phone. You can't beat this place for lot's of good tasting food for the price.

The catfish was tasty, but all the rest was not good. The mac and cheese was a solid block consisting of pasta on the bottom with a healthy dose of cheese floating on top. So it looks like it should be good but when you get past the crust, there is tasteless pasta on the bottom. The collard greens were really soggy and drippy. And whatever it was dripping in had no flavor! The bammie and string beans were practically inedible. Getting takeout doesn't help with the time. I called in my order from Brownsville and drove to Soule and I still had to wait a good 15 minutes. Their menu looks great and the prices are reasonable, but you'll wish you had spent the extra money and gotten some food that you would enjoy. 1st visit and last visit.
