A perfectly nice dinner turned annoyingly bad when the bill arrived and I was charged $4 extra for sauce I had asked for because my pasta was served on the dry side for my taste. I was not told there would be an extra charge. The sauce did not arrive until I was 2/3 the way through my meal. The annoyingly overly nice waitress/ bartender, nor the manager of the evening, said they had any control to adjust the bill and became useless.

Wow. This place is fantastic. From the greeting from the owner to the food and wine, this was a fantastic experience. The veal was the best I've had. The shrimp ravioli was so good. The sauce was perfect. The tiramisu was made on site and was the best I've had. And if you're good, and I mean real good, you might get a shot of homemade grappa. So good. Try this place, it's outstanding. I'll be back every time I'm in NYC. Thank you.

This Italian gem of a restaurant was stumbled upon on a recent trip to Manhattan. It is a tiny diamond on a rough looking west 38th street between 8th and 9th avenues. My wife and I stopped in for an early supper before the theater and found the place nearly empty. We were greeted cordially and escorted to our seats like visiting royalty. The hostess / sommelier offered us a complimentary (and delicious) bruschetta before we even ordered. The menu leans toward southern Italy although Tuscan cuisine was well represented on the menu. We opted for the special zucchini-Italian sausage appetizer and a secondi entree of Prosciutto and melon ravioli along with a recommended wine pairing. Our gracious and friendly hostess was Thai, but fluent in English and Italian. Judging from the voices emanating from the kitchen the chef's staff was entirely Italian. Our meal was topped off with a light and airy tiramisu from heaven. When the bill arrived it was softened by a complimentary limoncello. By New York standards the meal, dessert, and wine for two was reasonable, but the meal was superb. By the time we left for the theater the bar and tables were filling up and the aroma wafting into the street was a siren song for passersby. Carbone Ristorante was a highlight of our recent visit to the Big Apple. Buon appetito.

I ordered the "buffalo" mozzarella, mushroom and truffle pizza for delivery. When delivery arrived, i was blown away by the portion. For $19, I got a skimpy small pizza that didn't even have buffalo mozzarella on it. My girl friend and I had to order from another place, because we were still hungry.

I truly enjoyed my dinner at carbone restaurant the service was outstanding the food was delicious and the atmosphere reminded me of a romantic restaurant in the streets of rome. the appetizers were so greatly put together the antipasto plate was truly our delight . the black linguini with sea food made my night. and the homemade tiramisu finished our dinner perfectly. the owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. he even ended our night with a round of limoncello. i highly recommend this restaurant for a true authentic italian dinner in nyc

Blink and you will miss this little place when walking down 38th. Cozy brick interior, great service, and good food.The specials are great too - we had delicious fish.

stumbled upon this place because we were so hungry and did not want to eat any fast food restaurants before the movie starts. honestly. i thought the food was alright. nothing too special about it. we were seated at the bar because there was no space left. the bartender was very nice and gave us free shots. however, my date keep exaggerating and claims that the lasagna was the best he ever had, he claims that they have authentic italian dishes. hms. to me? not really. i think i had better. it was a bit pricy too. in terms of the atomosphere of the restaurant and the food.
