Caravan of Dreams

My friend and I came here for brunch and were seated immediately, though it took a while longer to give our orders considering the large amount of customers present. We shared the live fruit salad, which I found to be pleasant, especially with the almond creme. My friend ordered the cinnamon toast with various spreads and a mountain of fruit and nuts, while I had the spelt berry pancakes with the same selection of fruit and nuts. A couple of things: while overall, the food was tasty, it was inexplicably dry, and was only saved by the few spoonfuls of almond creme I was able to salvage as a dipping sauce. Secondly, there was an air of redundancy with the strawberries, mangos, apples, pineapple, and nuts that were strewn about everything; I would have liked to see more variety. Finally, while the experience was pleasant enough (there was even a live musician providing a bit of background music in the dim shadows of this veggie-haven) the prices seemed ridiculous, at least for a student like me. My pancakes, given their dryness and otherwise uninspiring flavor, seemed costly at $11, while a quick look at the lunch and dinner menu further confirmed my thoughts. I'm glad I went here, but doubt I'll return again.

I ate here about a year ago, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The food was inventive, very health-minded, and tasted delicious! Atmosphere was so-so, laid back feeling.

I have been going here for years. It seems like they are trying to be more like Counter or something. All of the waitstaff is dressed in black now-giving this uptight vibe that does not fit with the atmosphere that I've always known and loved. Also, they used to give each table a carafe of water. This made sense since they keep the place so hot. Now they only give you water if you ask! I'm sorry, but if I'm going to throw down 20 bucks for a salad, give me some water! The live food here is great, and of course the live music is a huge plus, but give me back my Caravan!

The food was delicious and the service was great. The food came out very quickly but the price is up there. It's still worth it if you're looking for quality veg food. The menu also offers alot so making a choice may be difficult but whatever you choose will most likely be very enjoyable.

This place is amazing. I am not a veg. but my friend is very vegan and picky. We both had meals that were absolutely amazing. this is a big deal to me b/c i'm a big wuss bout veggies and i loved my green garden platter . seitan w/ greens and carrot polenta. wow, amazing. I also had the live nachos which had the best flax chips you could imagine. we both at all of them. the good for everything tea was perfect too. (ginger, lemon, cayanne pepper). my friend had the tempeh ruben and loved it, but it is a lot of tempeh so you have to like it. this meal was absolutely worth the price, which was quite reasonable. the atmosphere was excellent. The 2 musicians were so good it was hard to concentrate on the menu. the wait staff is very nice and helpful. It was an overall great experience. We will be going back again for sure.

I used to be fiercely loyal to this place...but during the past year the quality and atmosphere have plummeted. The house salad used to be ambrosial...now its overdressed and mediocre. There are no distinct flavors anymore, now everything tastes like soy and Braggs Amino. The back room they use for overflow is poorly set up and drafty. It makes me sad...but I just can't eat there anymore.

Okay, it's been over a year since I ate there and my memory is shot but wanted to state how fabulous it was. I can't remember what I had but I started with an appetizer, had an entre and a dessert. I also had one of their shakes. Every course was the greatest food I've ever had. I've been a vegetarian since 1988 so I never really experienced a true gourmet cuisine until this restaurant. Prior to eating here my favorite vegetarian place was Kate's Joint which serves veggie comfort food. Caravan of Dreams prepares high end food for a truly first rate gastronomic experience. I do remember, however, that my three friends were unhappy with their selections and agreed my choices were fantastic. Maybe I just got lucky or maybe my three friends made bad decisions. Anyway...I give this my absolute highest recommendation.
