Do yourself a favor
And go experience the arepas at caracas. the flavors are bright, bold, and very venezuelan. the best (and tastiest) value on the menu are always the arepas. i highly suggest the de pabellon (with shredded beef, black beans, aged salty white cheese, and sweet plantains). 5 bucks. if alphabet city is too far for you to hike, they also deliver. and an important note about delivery is: the arepas and empanadas or whatever you order arrive crisp and piping hot, like it JUST came from the kitchen. it doesn't taste like soggy delivery food. if you look back through the other reviews, you won't see any bad ones. so what are you waiting for?

A taste of home
I'm Venezuelan and I visited New York City for semana santa, but I was stupid and went completly alone. After 4 days i was terrible home sick so I headed to Caracas Arepa Bar and I instantly felt at home. The arepas aren't filled with the typical fillings but they were delicious none the less. Also, its the only place where I can find coada, jugo parchita y chicha. Gracias a dios - Caracas Arepa Bar!!

Best arepas in nyc
I love this place. Best arepas and Venezuelan food. VERY affordable. Cute atmosphere. Definately the only place to go if you want Venezuelan.

Tiny place with GREAT taste
LOVE this place. Is Tiny but the food is really good. I would highly recomend it . However beware no space to move around. Is a bit of a wait but worth every minute of it. The people that work there are great. Very nice

Amazing
Great spot. As a vegetarian, it's perfect. They will substitute any meat product with baked tofu. My boyfriend and I go all the time.

Excellent Venezuelan Food!
My mother is from Caracas and I grew up eating arepas and Venezuelan food. I must say that since I have moved out that this is the place I go to get mom's home cooking. I brought my mom when she came to visit and she even enjoyed the food. It is definitely worth every penny!

Sooo yummy!
I love this place. the food is phenomenal! the space is really really cramped, the wait can be excrutiatingly long, and the service is par (they mixed up my order the last 2 times i've frequented) but it's not such a bad thing as everything on the menu is soulful, comforting and fresh. with drinks, apps, entree and desert for two (ie rolling out of there) it will run about $50 total. the flan (which is large and rich enough for two, possibly three people) is like no other in the city... a must try!
