This place has delicious areaps and delicious fresh juice. The only problem is the place is real real small, smaller than my living room so if it's busy, there is a wait. Otherwise, i'd stick with the arepas..the empanadas are not so good. They have a good squash soup too.. check it out the specials during lunch.

The food and service at Caracas is outstanding. Try the guasacaca and de pabellon arepas, both are amazing. They also have tasty weekly specials with ingredients like squid, chorizo, and caramelized onions. The space is tiny, but it just adds to the charm of the place. Wait staff is very friendly and accomodating.

Loved the arepas! They are not that big, are served on their own, but are pretty filling. 2 is more than enough. The empenadas--not so good. Really hard. Stick with the arepas...better value and flavor--less work.

The food here is outstanding and very authentic. My mother is from Venezuela and as a child I went there every summer for months. I know the food and this was just like my mother's cooking (of course moms is a little better!). She was with us and thought it was great too. We sat at the little bar and had great service. Love how they serve you bit by bit. We never sat there without something in front of us. Cafe con leche was yummy. Chicha just like I remembered it. Arepas and tequenos were superb. We pigged out to say the least. Owner was friendly. The place is small and cramped but hey- so are a lot of places in NYC. It is just how it is. Next time I visit NYC I will definitely be back for more.

While the arepas are not huge, it only gives you the opportunity to try more flavors. While a tiny space, the restaurant has got a great feel to it and the staff is very helpful at explaining the dishes. There is a lot of attention put into the preparation of the food and being served only one arepa at a time really makes you savor it and take a moment out of your busy day. The fruit juices are great too!

The food is regular, but I found the portions to small for the price, and the place is tiny. It's already packed with the waiters and chef.

The food here is simple and delicious. You can also BYOB but they charge for opening. A great value in the East Village. The waitstaff was okay but they try to rush you out fast especially if there is a wait. Maybe get food to go.
