Could have been better...
Enjoyed the food, but restaurant is small so that tables for two are too small to accommodate your order. We had to place our drinks on a ledge at our table. If you want to enjoy your meal at Cara Mia it might be better to go after the theatre crowd since they rush the pre-theatre diners to a degree that made us uncomfortable.

Ciao Cara Mia
We try to get around the city to explore and experience various resteraunts. We always come back to one of our favorites Cara Mia. The location is very convenient to mid town and of course the food, service and quaint atmosphere makes it the best.

carissima
Simply the best Italian in the theater district. Not only for food & value, but also for the whimsical decor & attentive service. I'm Italian and I must say better than Rome

Cara Mia - What it has become.
Went there last night after reading the reviews on this site. I expected much more than what I got. I ordered the veal. The veal tasted great, but it was only a few ultra thin slices on the plate. It came with baked potatoes and vegetables. The potato chunks amounted to less than the size of a baby potato. The brocolli was a huge stalk that took 60% of the plate... who eats that much brocolli... and it was undercooked? So I was very dissatisied with the amount of food at our table and the next table (I peeked). Portions are not large, just the brocolli. Service was decent from a professional staff. The atmosphere was lovely and can be great for a romantic date. Bottom line - when I finally got home, I had to get something to eat. P.S. I only weigh 120 pounds.

Delicious
We live in Philadelphia and drive to NYC for fun and food. Everytime we eat at Cara Mia's the food in delicious. The wait staff are prompt and polite. We usually dine before the theater and never worry about being late. They honor your reservations promptly. Everything is fresh and portions are a good size. Cara Mia has great Italian food! Anyone who we've sent to this restaurant has thanked us and returned again. The prices are reasonable too. The location is only a short walk to the theaters. ENJOY!

Always a favorite
We get into the city about once per month. We have tried many restaurants, love to try new ones. Cara Mia is one of the few to which we return and return. Crab Cakes and corn salsa are excellent, Portabella mushroom appetizer is great, I've had them several times. Atmosphere is warm and friendly, food is always great. It's a treat!

Cara Mia - Great Italian food
Cara Mia offers delicious and creative Italian cuisine with excellent service and ambience. They specialize in homemade pastas (be prepared to see at least 6 pasta specials on any given night), as well as a variety of meats and fish. Both their lobster and steak specials are fantastic Cara Mia is a great place to take a date for dinner and it?s very close to the theater district. Most of the time Italian restaurants are too Americanized. The food gets bland and loses it authenticity (ie. Olive Garden). This is not true with Cara Mia. You can even order in Italian, which I love. Cara Mia is definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in the city and if you haven?t been there yet, it?s a must try. Entrees range from $15-30 and the portions are huge.
