    Not a place for seafood...

This place is Ok. The margaritas were good, but the caipirinha was too strong and missing some sugar. The sangria was a little bland too. As for the food, I guess the quesadillas are the best choice. Initially, I ordered the tuna, but they were out. Then I ordered the dish called Cazuela. The menu says it's seafood only, and the waiter explained that it was similar to a paella dish, so I ordered it. Well, I was happy when it arrived at the table. It looked very tasty. However, when I took the first bite, I realized there was chicken in my dish! I got a combination of shrimp, mussels, and chicken! I was e xpecting more like calamari and scallops in it, but no chicken! I was veery disappointed with my food!

    What the #@%!

Everything was going fine at dinner, good guacamole and sangria, but no more than 2 minutes after the waiter picked up our dinner plates were we being told that the host needed the table and that there was a "timing issue". I have never been treated so disrespectfully at a restaurant in my life. When they dropped the check the waiter would come by every 2 minutes...no exageration, i checked my watch. The food could never make up for the disrespectful service at this place. Too many restaurants in NYC to ever go back here.

    Always delicious

I've been here many times with different friends and relatives. Their margaritas are excellent and will make them to order if you're fussy as I am. Everyone loves their appetizers (esp. shrimp w. salsa verde, guacamole, etc. Their fajitas are excellent. The service is usually attentive. The bartender is very obliging. It's always a good place to go when you're in the mood for upscale Southwestern food.

    Great food, odd service

I had the steak and it was delicious. Fiancee had the quesadillas and they were good, but not as good as the steak. The food is worth the visit. Service...hmmm. Well, the waiter was fine, not exactly attentive, but he got the job done. The host was odd, though. First, he acted like he wanted money to seat us, despite the fact that half of the restaurant was empty. Acted like it was a big deal that we didn't have a reservation (we went at 5:30pm...and as I said, the place was not busy.) He then asked if a table near the front would be ok (again, there were plenty of better tables in the back---but what do I care?) We said fine and were glad to get the weirdo away from us. I realize at some places that are hard to get into or more expensive it is customary to tip the host/hostess for a good table. But at a restaurant where the average entree is $15 and the place is half empty and it is 5:30 pm it is totally out of place. Frankly, we were a little put off by the whole thing, but the food made up for that.

    Tasty

I loved their food, wish it was bigger portions, but you got to sacrifice rather good quality tasty dishes than huge portions that leave a nasty tasty in my mouth. I have not gone to the restaurant, I had delivery maybe delivery are smaller portions lots of restaurants tend to do this, But it was so good.

    Very good dinner

I am new to the area and I am happy to have found this restaurant. Typical southwestern/mexican food in a nice atmosphere. Service was good. Margaritas were very good and a pitcher was very inexpensive. Definitely better food and value then Maya or Rosa. Good music playing in the background. I really enjoyed eating here.

    Best Mexican of UES

Canyon Road is my favorite mexican around. The food is great but the frozen margarita's are just as good. Service is perfect and atmosphere you can not beat. Great Happy Hour!! Prices are perfect for what you get. Beat's Rosa and Maya any night.
