I have tried most of the chinese food on the UWS and have been utterly dissapointed. Canteen 82 has been a very refreshing find. The dumplings are good (not as great as Chef Yu which I consider to be the best I've ever had) and the prices are very reasonable. Great ambiance and the staff was very friendly. If you are looking for good chinese on the UWS, you could do a LOT worse than C82. I absolutely recommend giving it a shot

I order take out from C82 often. It is always fresh and ready in minutes. Duck buns are great as well as Shrimp and Eggplant. Rated a 3 for service only because they don't deliver. When I order takeout I have never had to wait.

Eaten here several times and love the wok garlic shrimp especially. Just wonderin' - how can a restaurant survive in NYC if it doesn't deliver to, at least, the neighborhood?

i went there couple of times with my freinds. The food was delicious as always. I was going over comments made by some people and suprised to see complaint about service. For me, the service was fair enough. Their waitress and waiters were good enough to serve and speak in english even though their english were not good enough...overall everything was good enough for such a busy resturant...!!!

As much as I love the UWS, it is something of a wasteland for good Chinese food. About 3 months ago we discovered Canteen 82 and since then we have been back at least 6 times. Their pork and crabmeat soup dumplings are fantastic - very rich broth, with nice tender dumpling wrappers, and very flavorful fillings. The pan-fried shandong dumplings are pretty good, as are the pan pan buns (both the roast pork and the Peking duck fillings are delicious) and the scallion pancakes. Aside from the soup dumplings, my second favorite thing on the menu is the slow-cooked beef, which is braised until the beef is tender and incredibly flavorful. I love this place. The service isn't always the best, but with those delicious soup dumplings I could care less.

This is a great place for soup dumplings and pan pan buns. The soup dumplings are special. The rest of the food on the menu is pretty mediocre. Service is fair.

Only got the pork soup dumplings - they were the most incredible I have ever had. Rich too - 6 is a meal and then some. Can't wait to try some other menu items now...True - service is not good but hopefully that will improve .
