Canteen 82

As a Chinese-American, been to all of the best chinese restaurants in US. The soup dumplings here are second to none - and NOT in a grimy flushing/chinatown location! Not a fan of the peking duck rolls (too much sauce, not enough duck flavor), but really like their curry beef noodle soup and their other dim sum items are all above average.

Lovely staff, great food and good ambiance. What more could you ask for?

It's hard to find good Chinese food on the Upper West Side, so I'm incredibly glad that they're open! Been there several times already. Excellent dumplings. Curry Thai chicken is fantastic. And their stir-fry dishes, including noodles and fried rice, are all very tasty and has enough "air of the wok" (which means the chef used the wok the way it's meant to be used: with high heat). Service is excellent as well.

Glad they're back on the UWS - great soup dumplings and peking duck buns. Service could be improved.

Best dumplings. Great service. Fresh asian food that isn't deep fried. Fast delivery. Beautiful location to boot.

I was a pretty big Canteen supporter before their closing a little while ago. They weren't running a very profitable gig though--w/o delivery and a liquor license--which was most likely their reason for shutting down. Now they've reopened with functioning delivery and alcohol service and I could not be more ecstatic. I ordered in from a few blocks, and, despite snowy conditions, the transaction was just as smooth and precise as a pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz. I ate those chicken dumplings smiling the whole way through as the thoughtfully crafted ambrosia gave my palette an orgasm. I intend on eating at this place as much as possible, and so should you. P.S. Sorry for being really cheesy. P.P.S. I'm not actually sorry.
